Dr. I. Klrkland West, pastor, will speak on "A Skeptical World Looks for the Risen Christ In You." The choir will bring spe cial Easter music. All Presbyterian young adults are invited to the A. A. Laus mann home for breakfast imme diately after the Sunrise service at Huener Butte. Mr. and Mrs. AI James will be hosts to the senior high fel lowship group and their friends at Rogue River Packing com pany after the Sunrise service. The Junior high fellowship, with Mrs. Otto Frohnmnycr, Mrs. Harold Gregory, Mrs. John Henson, Mrs. George Flanagan, and Mrs. Wayne Jamison as hosts, is to have breakfast at the church. All classes below junior age are to attend Sunday school at 9:30 a.m. There will be no eve ning service or Youth group meetings Sunday evening. J! Methodists Will Hold 3 Morning Services Sunday Three morning services are planned at First Methodist church on Easter Sunday. They will be at 8:13, 9:30 and 11 a.m. The Rev. Meredith Groves, pastor, will speak on "As It Began to Dawn." At the first service the Vesper choir, directed by Herbert Danlrls will sing "Easter Morn" and Daniels will sing "Christ Arose." At the other services the Chan cel choir, directed by Mrs. C. R. Adamson, will sing "In the End of the Sabbath," with solo Friends' Easter Activity To Open With Breakfasts Easter observance at the Friends church will begin with a young people's breakfast at the Raymond Brood home, fol lowing the sunrise service, and the Homebuildcrs class break fast at 7:45 a.m. at the Mcdford hotel. At 10 a.m. children of the be ginners through intermediate de partments will present the Sun day school Easter program, fol lowed by brief class sessions. At the 11 a.m. worship service the pastor will speak on "Death's Sting Removed." The choir will present two anthems: "I Walked Today Where Jesus Walked," and "Risen as He Said." There also will be Children's church during the worship hour. To Present Play A play, "The Challenge of the Cross," will be presented at the 7:30 p.m. service. Young people of the Senior Christian Endeavor society will make up the cast, as follows: Evangel, played by Joan DeZell; six disciples, played by Duane Brood, Richard Hopkins, Pat Schroeder, Jack Parker, Arnold Lockwood, and Rose Marie Han sen. The church choir will furnish background music for the play. An invitation Is extended to all who wish to attend. Youth Choir Cantata - At Sams Valley Sunday Sams Valley taster services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Sun day at Sams Valley Community church with a Sunday school program and sermon by the Rev. W. Lee Gray, "Jesus Lives. There will be baptism and re ception of members. The young people's choir will present an Easter cantata, "The Cross of Redemption," at 8 p.m. Sunday. MORNING SERVICE 11 A.M. At 9:30 a.m. the nursery, pri mary and kindergarten depart ments will have Easter programs in their departments. Other de partments of the Sunday school will join in the 9:30 a.m. church service. Choir Festival At 7:30 p.m. there will be a Festival of Choirs. The four choirs. Chancel, Vesper, Junior and Cherub will present the fol lowing numbers: "Praise To the Lord The Al mighty", Junior, Vesper and Chancel choirs; "Fairest Lrd Jesus" and "Let Hymns of Glad ness Ring," Cherub choir; "Rus sian Carol of the Trees," Mrs. Vern Wilson and Chancel choir; "May Jesus Christ Be Praised" and "The Day of Resurrection," Junior choir with solo by Vir ginia Daniels. "Ye Watchers and Ye Holy Ones," Vesper choir with solo by Larry Henderson; "The Heav ens Are Telling," Chancel choir. "Christ The Lord Is Risen To day," combined choirs. The church will join in the union sunrise service on a hill near Jacksonville at 5:20 a.m. This will be followed by a break fast In the open for the youth groups of the church. Willamette Choir Concert on Monday With a program of choral mu sic ranging from the formal dig nity of Bach to Kodaly's unusual harmonies, the Willamette uni versity a capella choir will be presented In concert at the First Methodist church here, at 8 p.m., Monday, April 14. The university choir draws its members not only from the col lege of music, but from liberal arts students, making a stronger and more select organization by bringing out the best voices in the university. Toured Extensively The choir, organized In 1939 by its director, Dean Melvln H. Gcist, has toured extensively throughout the northwest since its formation. Using Salem as its focal point, the group has cov ered considerable territory in Oregon, Washington, and Idaho. This year the choir has made its second trip to central Cali fornia within the last four years. The 50-volce group began 1952 with a stop at Roseburg on April 3. They went as far south as San Leandro, Calif. FAITH I Apostolic Faith Services Sunday Feature Music The Rev. C. W. Frost, pastor of the Apostolic Faith church, has announced that special mu sic will be featured throughout the Easter Sunday services at his church. i The Sunday school at 9:30 a. m. plans a specially arranged Easter cantata to be presented by the primary department un der the direction of Hazel Craig and Edamae Adamson. The jun ior and senior departments will also be represented with mu sical numbers. The prelude to the 11 a. m. worship service will be present ed by the orchestra. Numbers in clude "I Know That My Re deemer Liveth," from the "Mes siah" by Handel, and "Easter Fantasia" by Lake. The chorus will be heard in "He Rose Tri umphantly" and "Our Living Lord." Evening Cantata The 7:50 p. m. service will open with an organ prelude, followed by an Easter cantata, "From Darkness to Light," com piled by Ellen Jane Lorenz on the music of P. I, Tschaikowski. This number features solos by Mrs. Duane Jones, Mrs. Randy Nichols, Mrs. Cecil ' Owen and John Friesen and duets by Mrs. Ray Robinson and Mr. Warren Hanlin and Mrs. Nichols and Mr. Efton Jones. A mixed quartet and male chorus are also featured as well as the 40-voice chorus. Music of the orchestra and chorus are under the direction of Rev Norman Allen. Nazarene To Take Mission Offering "The Living Christ" will be the subject of the Easter sermon by the Rev Vernon Wilcox at the Medford Church of the Naz arene Sunday, 11 a.m. Mrs. Wilcox will sing "Open the Gates of the Temple." The annual missionary offering will be received at this service. At 7:30 p.m. the church choir, under the direction of John M Eby, will present Ira B. Wilson's Easter cantata, "The Cross Tri umphant," with Mrs. Eby as or ganist. Breakfast Set The day will begin with the young people participating In the united sunrise service then hold ing an Easter breakfast. At 9:45 a.m. the big Sunday School rally of the year will be held. The children's department will pre sent a 30-mlnute Eastern pro gram, following an abbreviated class period. A goal has been set to break all existing attendance records, according to Arnold Kornstad. D. D. Randall To Talk At Upper Applegate Upper Applegate Sunday school will hold its annual East er services at the Grange hall, beginning with a community brcHkfast at 8:30 a.m. The sermon will be given by Rev. D. II. Randall and a visit ing minister from the American Sunday school union. Ever one interested is Invited. The public of both Ash land and Medford is Invited to attend. Under the direction of Miss Lorraine Veidt, vocal music su pervisor of the Medford schools, the 45-voice choir will present a program of anthems appro priate to the Easter season. Mrs. Frank Davis is the organ accompanist. The program will open with an organ prelude of six num bers by Mrs. Dick Joy. The choir will sing three groups of num bers and Maurice Bailey will play a French horn solo, with Miss Colleen Tiegs as accom panist. A vocal ensemble of six voices will sing one number and Miss June Kelso will play a violin solo. The organ post lude will be by Mrs. Davis. Parrish home on Old Stage road. , Cars providing transportation will leave the church at 5:15 a.m. The adult and youth choirs will present a youth program Sunday evening. Selections Listed The combined choirs will sing " Tis Midnight" and "Christ the Lord is Risen Today." "Were You There?" and "Christ Arose" will be presented by the youth group. "Early to the Garden," "Song of the Redeemed" and "Now Unto the King Eternal" are adult choir numbers. Other selections will be "It Is More Than a Dream," girls' dou ble duet, and "Hallelujah, We Shall Rise," boys' quartet., J. Robert Cochran is director, Mrs. Ted Graham and Miss June Darby are organists and Miss Verna Cingcade is pianist. Metcalf speaking at the Bible auditorium on South Central avenue, today at 7:30 p.m. will explain how the whole structure of Bible prophecy rests upon the date of the crucifixion and resurrection of Christ. Predictions In the book of Daniel, which Christ told his fol lowers to understand, will be used to prove by mathematics that Jesus is the Messiah of the Jews, and that 31 A. D. is the only date when his death could have occurred.
