IMS - , h ; " ' BARBARA PAYTON Aiki $1,500 Monlhl- Barbara Payton Asks Monthly Sums In Alimony Suit Hollywood (U.R) The costly romance of Franchot Tone and Barbara Payton appeared head ed for a possibly more expensive ending Thursday after the blonde actress filed for $1,500 a month in temporary alimony pending a divorce. Payments Demanded Her attorney, Milton Golden, filed a petition in superior court Wednesday demanding that Tone make the payment until their contested divorce comes to trial. Golden charged that Tone had made a hasty exit from Calif ornia after she filed a cross-complaint to his divorce suit and is steering clear of the state in an attempt to "starve her out . Hearing Schedule A hearing on Miss Payton's temporary alimony petition was scheduled, for April 18. She charged in her divorce action that the actor is worth $1,000,- ' 000, of which at least $100,000 is community property. Golden said Tone was "Just tailing" and added that the ac tor "changes bis mind every other day." Parent-Teacher Group Reaffirms Support of Bill Pendleton, Ore. (U.R) Dele gates to the 39th annual Ore gon Parent-Teacher Congress closed their convention Wednes day by reaffirming their support on the state s proposed school reorganization bill. The bill will be on November ballot. A few delegates spoke briefly in opposition, urging the organi zation to refrain from reaffirm ing its stand on such legislation and let the Individual members study the bill before election time. Mrs. Arthur N. - Green of Portland, former chairman of the state PTA legislation com mittee, said strong, unified schools would bring about bet ter teaching facilities In all phases of education and the cost, in terms of services received, would mean better education for less money.
