April 1 IMS Youth of First Christian Church Holding Campaign The youth of the First Chris tian church are actively engaged in the Visitation Evangelism campaign which the church launched gome three months ago. They will participate in the further calling required for the great Decision Day Easter Sun day, when 152 will come into the Church. The youth will hold -a party work night the night before Easter. After participating in the an nual youth sunrise service on Easter, the young people will re turn to the church for breakfast at 6:30 a.m. About 80 youths are expected at the breakfast. Fran ces Troxell is in charge. The women of the church are cook ing the meal. Time Magazine Notes Bank Vault Mishap The current edition of Time news magazine, in its "Miscel lany" section, repeats the story of the difficulty the First Na tional bank's Medford branch had recently when the time mechanism on its vault was set wrong, and the firm had to "borrow" operating cash for the day from the rival U.S. National bank across the street. In another section of the maga zine, radio and television, an article tells the story of the "Bride and Groom" television program and its three producers, one of whom is John Reddy, for merly a resident of Medford and son of the late Dr. and Mrs. J.F. Reddy, well-known and long time residents. - Rats eat about 200,000,000 bushels of grain each year in the United States, the National Geo graphic Society reports. : Rogue River Church Announce Service Rogue River Hope Presby terian church of Rogue River will have its Good Friday serv ice in the sanctuary at 7:30 p.m. on April 11. It will be a 45-minute service. The junior choir will partici pate, singing "There Is a Green Hill Far Away," "Were You There When They Crucified My Lord," and "The Old .Rugged Cross.".. Buns and coffee or milk will be served after the service. The public is invited. Ranger Promoted, Transferred North Harold C. Criswell, ranger in charge of the Union' Creek dis trict of the' Rogue River National forest for two years, has been promoted to a position on the supervisor's staff of Mt. Hood National forest, it was announced Saturday by J. H. Wood, super visor of the Rogue forest. Chriswell will be in charge of fire control and other projects in his new job. Wood said. Chriswell joined the Forest Service in 1933 as an assistant technician on the Colville forest in Washington, later serving as junior forester and assistant ranger there. In 1939 he became a district ranger on the Umatilla forest, and also served on the Olympic and Gifford Pinchot for ests before coming to the Union Creek district in 1950. A graduate of the University of Washington college of for estry, Chriswell is a member of Tau Phi Delta fraternity, and has been active in the Society of American Forestry, attending the national convention last year as Forest Service delegate from the Pacific northwest. He is married and the couple have two children, both attend ing school at Prospect. They will move to Portland within a few weeks. - No successor has been named. March Said 'Cool' By Vealher Bureau March, with dairy tempera ture average of 4.4 below nor mal, waa "a cool month' and the continued cool temperatures kept agriculture 10 days to three weeks behind schedule, the Med ford office of the weather bur eau reported In Its monthly sum mary for thia vicinity. Temperatures ringed from 22 degrees above zero on March 2 to 76 on March 27. There were 17 days in the month with a low of 32 degrees, the freezing point, or below. Two clear days, nine partly cloudy days and 20 cloudy days were recorded. Precipitation for the month was 1.20 inches. .30 of an inch below normal. Greatest fall in a 24 hour period was .43. overlap ping March 17 and IS. Total snowfall was 2.8 inches with the greatest depth, one inch, on March 19. There were 13 days with precipitation .01 of an inch or more and four days with .10 or more. 'V Square Dancers To Resume Program The YMCA square danre group will resume its regular Wednes day night program at 8 p m. on April 9. the "Y" announced Sat urday. Mr. and Mrs. Jim Johann son will be in charge, and several local square dance callers will be on hand. Those wishing to learn danre calling to be given an opportu nity to do so, the announcement said, and the program will in clude all types of square dances, with a blackboard being used to explain dances. Guests of members are welcome. Sunday Is bath day for don keys, goats, and other animals on Barbados, easternmost of West Indies islands. Easier Egg Hi'nl Plans Revealed Further details concerning the annual Medford Kiwanls club Easter egg hunt hare been an nounced by Chairman XL K. Peterson.- The hunt will be held Satur day morning. April 12. and for the second year will be at Haw thorne park, east of Bear creek. Peterson reported that 1.800 eggs will be hidden in the park The hunt this year is limited to youngsters nine years of age and under. There will be three hunt ing areas. Children on to three years of age will be in one area, those four to six In another and those seven to nine in a third. Eighteen major prizes are planned with a grand prirt for a boy and a gul in coca age group. Other prizes are planned and Kiwanians are asked each to bring a prize for the hunt when they attend the club's luncheon this Wednesday.
