Planning to attend are Mrs. Ann Rundell, Portland, past grand royal ma tron; Jack Schulze, Klamath Falls, past grand royal patron; Mrs. Schulze, past grand stand ard bearer; Mrs. Frances Astrom, Portland, grand secretary; Frank Douglass, Klamath Falls, assist ant grand lecturer. Stamp Club To Hold Meeting on Saturday New members of the Junior "Y" Stamp club are Vernon Har ris, James Emment, Jack Smith and Joe Shelton. The club now has a membership of 55 children. Last week the club studied the stamps of Sweden, and for the meeting Saturday, April 5, will study the stamps of Fin land. The club meets each Sat urday at the YMCA at 1:30 p.m. Prizes will be given for the best essays on Finland. Clyde Smith is leader, and Mrs. Eric ae nace ana tuemon xsauey, assistants. Society and Clubs Teachers To Hold Meeting Saturday In Griffin Creek Jackson County Classroom Teachers' association will hold its last meeting of this school year at Griffin Creek school Saturday, April 5. A ham luncheon will be served at noon in the school cafeteria. The program will open with group singing. led by Mrs. Myr tle Chapman, Ashland, and ac companied by Mrs. Myrna Frink, principal of Griffin Creek school. Mrs. Frieda Wilson of the Southern Oregon college will speak on "Testing, Evaluation, Grading and Report Cards." Mrs. Una B. Inch, county school supervisor, will act as moderator of a panel discussion following the talk by Mrs. Wil son. Teachers taking part in the panel will be Mrs. Lurene Nye, Ashland; Tincye Murray, Butte Falls; Wilma Peabody, Med ford, Oak Grove school, and Loran W. Casebier of Talent Election of officers will be held, an evaluation of the year's program will be given and plans for next year will be dsicussed. All teachers of the county are cordially invited to attend. Mrs. Frink is taking (reservations. Superintendents and principals are welcome to attend. Have grilled mackerel for din ner tonight, with a sauce made of mayonnaise in which finely chopped watercress is mixed. Show hours are to be 12 noon to 9 p.m. Entertainment is being planned throughout the day, in cluding a style show, and tea will be served! Musical numbers will be given from time to time by a barber shop chorus and quartet, students of the Eve Prentice studio, Mrs. Tom Lowe and Kay Fisher.-- : Medford Student Is Committee Head Henry Padgham, Medford stu dent attending the University of California at Davis has been named director of finance for the 39th annual picnic day at the university. It is set for April 19. The student, a son of Mr. and Mrs. H.. A. Padgham, 2707 Springbrook road, will have the important job of supervising the concessions that provide for the wants of over 20,000 people ex pected to visit the campus that day. He is a sophomore at the school, and is an irrigation ma jor. The young man is a member of Alpha Gamma ' Rho frater nity, and the Cal-Aggie band. The varied program for the day includes such events as a horse show, fashion show, a track meet said to the world's ' largest event for high schools, an FFA judging day, invitational i swim relays and an aquacade. Anyone interested is invited to attend the annual event. Lily Day Parade, Country Club Dance On Drive Calendar On the calendar for April 5 and April 7 are two events be ing held in Jackson county in connection with the annual East er Seal sale. The annual Lily Day parade will be held Satur day, and the second event will be a benefit dance at Rogue Val ley Country club. Selling the lilies, made by the handicapped of Oregon, will be 26 Medford Senior High school girls selected by Mrs. Laurence Butler dean of girls at the school, and 25 members of Med ford bethel. Job's Daughters. The girls will work under the supervision of Mesdames Paul Atkins, Alvin Boswell, Norman Burke, P. C. Chinn Jr., Stella Breed, Susie Riddle, W. C Blackledge, Robert Powell and the Misses Hazel Swayne and Billie Kurtner Corsages will be given each girl by Medford Ro tana club, sponsors of the Easter Seal drive in Medford. Aknew orchestra, Two Beaux and a Peep, will play for the cour try club dance. Dancing will be from 9 p. m. until 1 a. m. and a buffet supper will be served from 11 to 12 midnight. Tickets for the dance mav be bought at Purucker's Music store, from all members of Ko tana, or Mrs. John McCann, 2-5594. . Adding color to both the Lily Day parade and the dance will be the presence of Pete, the Easter Seal rabbit Pete is really Mrs.. J. A. Rose, president of Rotana. The parade and dance are two of four wavs in which Jackson county residents may support the work of the Oregon society oi Crippled Children and Adults, it is pointed out. Sessions will be held in Vert Memorial auditorium. County delegates will include Mesdames L. O. Rogers, George Hubbard, Lee Hoag, C: B. Cordy, Delbert Spain, Myron Newton, William Roroayne, Albert Har rison, Leo Jacobs, Chester Fitch, Carl Peterson, Arch Barksdale, Margery Clark, L. A. Mrs. Jennelle Moor head, Oregon president, will pre side. - Scheduled are the annual nomination and election of offi cers, workshops dealing with PTA problems on local,, county and state levels. Changes are also to-be made in the by-laws of the constitution. For entertainment a smorgas bord dinner, chuck wagon break fast and a large regional dinner are planned. Mrs. Moorhead set the theme of the convention in the invita tion issued to local units when she asked all delegates to come prepared, not with material equipment, but enthusiasm, tol erance and an open mind. League Announces Open Meeting for Talk by Senator Men, as well as women, are invited to attend a meeting at which State Senator Phil Hitch cock will speak Saturday, April 5, it was announced today by Medford League of Women Vot ers, sponsoring his appearance here. The luncheon meeting will be held at the Pioneer room in the Jackson hotel at 12:30 p.m. Reservations are to be made by calling Mrs. Nick DeWitt, 2-5640. Reorganization of the 'state tax structure will be the sena tor's topic, and his talk will be followed by open discussion. Senator Hitchcock is considered one of the legislature's outstand ing members, and he is known as an able speaker. -4 Plans for Frolic Completed Today Last minute preparations for the annual April Frolic at the Jackson school were nearing completion this afternoon and workers planned to have every thing in readiness for opening of the building to dinner guests at 5:30 p. m. today. . Several new booths had been added to the bazaar. A stall for sale of festive hats and jumping beans gave a carnival - appear ance to the setting. It is to be manned by W. H. McGuire. Fish ponds to test the skill of children will be operated fol lowing the presentation of the operetta. Mrs. Kenneth Nolte, Mrs. J. R. Clark, Mrs Alvin Bos well, Mrs Roy Heath and Mrs. Violet LeMaster will take charge of the ponds. The operetta, to be staged by the school,. will open at 7:30 o'clock. Phoenix Homemakers class of Phoenix Presbyterian church recently held the monthly ses sion at the church, with election of officers held during the eve ning. Ed Caldwell was elected president, and Mrs. Maud Has kins, secretary. The retiring president and secretary are Mr. and Mrs. John Kesler. Supper preceded the meeting, and games followed. Committee members were Mr. and Mrs.Rex Nicodemus and Mr. and Mrs. Larry Lawrence.
