Honored at Shower; June Wedding Planned Miss Betty Williams, fiancee of Clifford Crites of Ashland, was honored at a, bridal shower given by Mrs. Louis Putman, Mrs. Evelyn Dickenson, Miss Janet Johnson and Miss Irene Williams. The party was held at First Methodist church March 21. After games and refresh ments, the honored guest was presented many gifts. Carol Van Ausdall and Carol Ellison; Mrs. Nancy Crites, Ashland, Mrs. Blythe Hirst, Eugene, and the guest of honor. Miss Williams and Mr. Crites are to be married in early June. Girl Scout Workshop Planned for Wednesday Mrs. Robert Temple, training committee chairman of the Med ford district, Girl Scouts, an nounces an outdoor workshop for all leaders and others in troop programs to be held Wed nesday, April 2. The workshop will be held at the Girl Scout day camp site from 9:30 a. m. to 2:30 p. m. Those attending will be taught the basic outdoor skills such as firer building and safety precau tions, open fire cookery and knife and hatchet techniques. A special session for leaders of fourth grede Brownie troops will be held at 1 p. m., the topic to be preparing girls for inter mediate scouting. Each woman attending is re quested to take a mess kit, jack nife, hatchet, bandana and hand book. Cost of the lunch will be pro-rated. Mrs. Temple states that if it is raining Wednesday morning, the group will meet at Mary's casa, 537 Mary street at the same hour. Jacksonville PTA To Elect Officers Jacksonville Officers to serve Jacksonville Parent-Teacher association during 1952-53 will be elected at a regular meeting of the association Wed nesday, April 2. Seventh grade students will furnish entertain ment for the meeting which will be held in the music room of the school at 8 p. m. Bruce Hitt, principal of the grade school, will give a talk on "Reading." Mothers of sev enth grade students will serve refreshments. All parents of children in the school and other ers interested are invited. White Officers of Court Give Dinner Party Mr. and Mrs. I. D. Canfield and Mrs. Dewey Queen were hosts March 23 for a dinner which honored officers of Roxy Ann court. Order of the Am aranth. The dinner was given at the Canfield home on Cole man Creek road. Mrs. Queen, who is royal ma tron of the court, and Mr. Can field, the royal patron, present ed the officers with gifts. Linn, Mr.and Mrs. Vernon Turpin, Mr. and NMrs. Charles Hoppe, Mr. and Mrs. John Esp, Mr. and Mrs. Richard Mayfield, Mr. and Mrs. Jack Kennedy, Mr. and Mrs. Vernon Announce Operetta In Central Point Central Point The chorus of Central Point junior high school will present the operetta, "Yan-ki-San," April 3 and 4, in the junior high school library. The setting is a small island off the Japanese mainland. Curtain time both nights will be 8 p. m. Mrs. Lorna Meyer is director. - A matinee performance Wed nesday afternoon will serve as a dress rehearsal. The cast num bers more than 100 students, and it is stated that the produc tion has been entirely a student function, with the exception of construction of the stage setting. Sojourners Give 'Mad Hatter' Party As Annual Event The Mad Hatter's Tea Par ty," was theme of the semi annual guest day program when Medford Sojourners met March 27 at the Medford hotel. Twenty nine guests attended. Special guests were "Cinder ella," "The Mad Hatter," 'March Hare," and "Dormouse," at a table decorated with small tea cakes and service for tea. Daffodils in tea pots decorated the room, and on each card table in a setting of grass were centered a small cake and a "March Hare." Mrs. Maynard Paup was in charge of the deco rations. A dessert luncheon was served and cards were the diversion of the afternoon. In addition, students from Colleen Hope's dancing studio presented , three numbers with Judy Andresen and Gene Kim brel -doing tap dance routines. Prizes for bridge went to the Mesdames Frank Little, Richard Milestone, William Young, B. H. Todd, K. L. Denton, I. W. Housechild; pinochle, Mesdames Robert Organ, Robert Guthrie,1 Russell Budreau, W. S. Lair, J. R. Russell and Mabel Wright The Mesdames Don Hodge, Mil' dred Joseph, A. C Cameron, Frank English, N. E. Crosby and Richard Pedley won canasta prizes, and special prizes went to Mrs. C. M. Lee, Mrs. Faith Graves and Mrs. W. H. Fisher. Mrs. N. E. Crosby and Mrs. R. A. Brown became new mem bers. Prospective members were Mrs. R. G. Sherrill and Mrs. Richard Mayes. Chairman of the event was Mrs. L. E. Juniper and other members of the board were hos tesses, including Mrs. C. D. Tuesday Meeting Set For Reese Creek Unit Reese Creek Reese Creek Home Extension unit will meet Tuesday, April 1, at 10:30 a. m. in the home of Mrs. Ira T. Clark, Butte Falls road. The subject will be "Buttons, Bows and Buckles" with Mrs. Ben Gardener as leader and Mrs. Flury assisting. Officers for the coming year will be nominated. v Those interested are invited to attend. Griffin Creek Women Plan Meeting Friday Griffin Creek Griffin Creek Extension unit will meet Fri day, April 4, in the home of Mrs. Dan Neill, on Griffin creek. The subject will be "Streamlining Your Housework" and will be given by Miss Eula Wintermote, county extension agent.
