Psychology Professor .
To Lead Discussion
For Washington PI A
Dr. John iA. Schulz of the
psychology department, South
ern' Oregon college, will lead
discussion at a meeting of Wash
ington Parent-Teacher - associa
tion set for Thursday, March 27,
at 8 p. m. The meeting is planned
for the evening in order that
fathers and the general public
may attend.
The film, "Feeling of Depres
sion" will be shown, and Dr.
Schulz will lead the discussion
to follow. This is one of the re
cent mental health films, is high
ly recommended and said to be
thought-provoking. " .
A short business meeting will
include reports on the carnival
held March 7.
Refreshments will be served
after the meeting. The social
hour will be in charge of Mrs
Robert Stedman, Mrs. J. S.
Manchester. Mrs. James John
ston and Mrs. Jim Baumer. rep
resenting mothers with children
in the second grade rooms of

land is now open daily from 9
a. m. to 6:30 p. m. for sale of sea
son tickets, individual reserva
tions and club bookings for the
set of four forthcoming plays to
be produced there April 14 to
May. 10.
The repertoire of plays in
cludes "Arsenic and Old Lace,"
"The Death of a Salesman,"
"Claudia," and "The Importance
of Being Earnest.
"Arsenic" is described as one
of the fastest and zaniest come
dies of the American stage. Writ
ten by Joseph Kesselring, this
farce of wholesale manslaughter
and merriment, has been selected
as the opening attraction. First
produced in 1941 it evoked
unanimous critical acclaim. It
tells the story of Abby and
Martha Brewster, two old ladies
who take their benevolent work
so seriously that they launch
into wholesale homicide. It all
began when an old gentleman
who came to look for a fur
nished room at their home died
while they were showing it to
him. He appeared so peaceful
in death that the Brewster sis
ters decided it would be very
nice if, in addition to their other
good deeds,, they could bring
peace and happiness to other
homeless old men.
Through Mortimer, their neph
ew, a New York dramatic critic,
who unwittingly uncovers his
aunts' secret profession, a series
of incidents and situations take
place which send the audiences
into screaming laughter and
shivering excitement. Others in
the play are Brother Teddy who
thinks he is really Theodore
Roosevelt; and Brother Jonathan,
who insists he isn't really Boris
Karloff. Dr. Einstein is a curious
individual who specializes in
making criminals unrecognizable
to the police. -

elected president of the chapter
at recent annual elections of
the group. Mrs. L. P. Wilson is
the new vice-president, and Mrs.
R. J Cunningham, recording
secretary. '

D. Christensen, treasurer; Mrs.
Knute Froysaa, chaplain, ,and

vention with Mrs. L. P. Wilson
as alternate. -
Camp Dance
Ladies' auxiliary of the Eagles
lodge will sponsor a dance at
Camp White, Monday evening,
March 24. All women who care
to attend are welcome.
A free bus will leave the Trail
ways depot at 7:30 p.m. Grants
Pass women are to take charge
of arrangements and women at
tending are asked to take cakes.

Defense Agency
Supports Training
In Home Nursing
Jackson County Civilian De
fense agency heartily supports
the Red Cross home nursing pro
gram it was stated yesterday by
CoL Charles Stafford, .civilian
defense director. The - colo:l
pointed out that a knowledge
of home nursing skills would be
imperative in time of national
disaster and that the Red Cross
has been asked to train hun
dreds of persona in each local
ity.
The director made available
$100 for the purchase of nursing
supplies and equipment needed
for the courses, he further stat
ed. Classes are under way and
are being organized at this time,
and a meeting of the Red Cross
home nursing committee and in
structors is set for today at
6 p. m. in the home of Mrs. S.
C. Watkins, 1523 Terrace drive.
The committee urges enroll
ment in a class meeting in the
city hall Monday evening at
7:15 p. m. Jackson county has
an obligation to train between
500 and 600 people as part of
the nation-wide program, it was
said. Multnomah county has a
goal of 10,000, and large num
bers are being trained in Lane
and Marion counties. In Eugene
and Salem many husbands arid
wives are taking the courses
together.
"There is a great need for ev
eryone in the community to
have a knowledge of home nurs
ing," the statement of the com
mittee continues.
. "One never knows when disas
ter will strike in your neigh
borhood or in your own home.
The American Red Cross pro
vides this instruction through
free classes conducted by quali
fied instructors who are author
ized by the 4ocal chapter.
"The new revised home nurs
ing program is one of the most
glamorous services the Red Cross
offers. Every member of the
family from high school age to
the grandparents can take part.
It is so much fun when you can
learn together the skills and con
venient ways of taking care of
those in your family or helping
a neighbor who probably doesn't
need hospitalization, but just
someone to drop in and inquire.
