Busack for win ning the state B basketball championship. It was a job well done and keeps the title in Jack son county for another year. Rogue River by gaining the B schools' most valued bunting in basketball became the second team in history to gain the state title twice. The feat had not been accomplished since the great Bellfountain quints of 1936 and 1937 took the top B prize. FOUR OUT OF FIVE Rogue River's 1952 triumph was the third straight by Jackson county quintet in the stsio event and was the fourth in five years for clubs from this county. Jacksonville won in 1948. Rogue River in 1950 and 1952 and Phoenix in 1951. Such achievement certainlv gives Southern Oregon pres-v tig and indicates the stature of the Jackson county "B" circuit." This year's Rogue River championship was of consider able significance to Busach in his first year as a high school head man. FEATHER IN CAP Performances of Jackson ville and Talent in the South ern Oregon college tourna ment, won Saturday by Jack sonville, put another feather in the cap for Jackson coun ty. Talent was the other final ist, making an all-Jackson county finale. LIEBMAN HONORED A former Medford sportscast er will be at the microphone for a number of broadcasts of Ore gon Class A basketball tourney games this week. He is Ned Liebman, formerly of radio sta tion KYJC, Medford, and KWIN, Ashland ,and now with KSRV, Ontario. Liebman will be at the mike along with Ted Smith, Pendleton; Hal Byers, Albany, and Arlen Sanders, Klamath Falls. Liebman will.be seeing his second state tournament. SAMPLE PLEASES We saw only a sample re cently of what is In s tore at the retriever trial at Hoover lakes this week-end but feel that those who go out to see the dogs work during the three days are in for a real treat. There will be something worth seeing as the dogs match abilities and amusing sidelights can be expected. We had hoped to get a pic ture for the Sunday story of four Labradors leaping simul taneously into the water. But it didn't work out that way. If Photographer Dave Brain erd had had a movie camera, he could have recorded four separate ways of getting into the water in quest of a duck. Ashland Wets Plan To Attend Sheep School Two Ashland 4-H boys will attend the annual sheep shearing school at Oregon State college in Corvallis March 19 and 20, it was reported today by Rufus Cate Jr., county agent for 4-H club work. They are Melville Dailey and Marvin Hamilton. The boys will receive instruction in shearing sheep from Ed Warner, a repre sentative of an equipment firm and an expert in the subject. Mal lory, Eagle Point, leader of a 14 member country-wide tractor maintenance 4-H club, and Club Agent Rufus Cate Jr., returned last week-end from the third an nual farm machinery clinic for 4-H leaders conducted on the Oregon State college campus in Corvallis. Representatives of seven oth er counties also attended. A sim ilar workshop was conducted in LaGrande, for eastern Oregon, Ex-School Head at The Dalles Kills Self Dallas, Ore. (U.R) Richard R. Turner, former superintend ent of schools for Dallas, died at his home here late Saturday. He was 77. The Polk county coronefs of fice said Turner apparently shot himself.
