according to Rostoe Bell, region
al administrator of the Bureau
of Land Management. He spoke
here Tuesday before the Med
ford Rotary club. .
In a luncheon address at the
Jackson hotel,. Bell said that an
nual returns from O and C lands
can reach the $7,000,000 mark if
the formula for distribution of
income and costs' can be realized.

including gas and petroleum, are
also developed under the Bureau
of Land Management's direction.
The need for development of
ohosDhate mining in the west
was stressed. Sixty per cent of
the nation's known supply lies In
eastern Idaho and, with short
ages of electric power for pro
cessing, the sulphuric acid meth
od is under consideration for
large scale development. The
fertilizer industry has a bright
future, and the stage is set for a
real western industry. Bell said.
At the present time the phos
phate content of soil in the west
is being depleted at a faster rate
than it is being replenished.

An anti-Communist organisation
known as the Society of Red
Haters has sprung up in Hunt
ington and may reach national
proportions If its founder.
Thomas E. Foley, has his way.
Foley, a Huntiniton attorney
and veteran of World War L said
he organized the society to fight
back at "Communist traitors' be
cause he has been fed up with
and frightened by prospects of
Communism In this country for
30 years.
The society is designed to be
on the same pattern as the Com
munist party In this country. In
small, closely knit groups co
ordinated by a centralised body.
The idea of SRH has long been
a dream of Foley but the attor
ney said it was only In the last
few years that he has been able
to get others interested in the
possibilities of such an organisa
tion.
Sees Gain for Cause
"I decided that Russia declared
war on the United States more
than 30 years ago and I have
been fighting the Bolshevik
threat in my limited way over
that period, Foley said.
"It was only within the last
few years that my side began to
gain when some brave leaders
began kicking the Kremlin m
the teeth and responsible offi
cials began revealing the deadly
truth in an alarming manner.
He said the danger of Commu
nism has been dramatized until
the formerly indifferent citizen
can visualize now the"evil day
when lend-lease to Russia will
come back in the form of bombs

America and Intends to conduct

guide them in united action

Foley said state directors are
being chosen and organizational
