Reorganization of Community Chest Board Nears End Reorganization of the Jackson County Community Chest board of directors has been virtually completed, according to officers of the organization. Members yet to be appointed include the 1950 general campaign chair man, and the chairmen of cam paign committees in localities where a separate committee is organized. All participating agencies are represented on the board under the new plan, it was pointed out. The board functions throughout the year to assure a fair distri bution of funds raised, accord ing to the need of the various agencies. The board also has general supervision of planning the fund campaign In the fall. Considers Problem F. C. Bash, president of the Chest, said Saturday the board has given thoughtful considera tion to the budget problems of the various organizations, and is making every effort to make the Community chest more efficient, by adopting many of the sugges tions made in the past by resi dents of the county. Medford Man Named To Credit Bureau Job The Medford office of Credit Bureaus, Inc., has announced the appointment of Robert Rice, Medford, to act as manager of customer relations here. In making the announcement, R. W. Zumwalt, manager of the customer relations division at the Salem office, said the new position was created here in an effort to provide more efficient service to the credit bureau's clients in the Jackson county territory. Needless worry and detail can be eliminated by investigat ing funeral arrangements and prices in advance of actual need. Plans Completed for Medford Dog Show The Southern Oregon Kennel club met Thursday at the Roy Swan home near Eagle Point with a picnic supper preceding the meeting. Plans were com pleted for the dog show on Sun day, Sept. 3, on the Medford high school football field. The last show was held on the Walt er Phillips field in Ashland. The club was affiliated with the kennel clubs of Klamath Falls, and Humboldt county, California, and the new associa tion will be known as the Cali fornia, Oregon Dog Show cir cuit, with shows to be held at Klamath Falls September 2; Medford, September 3, and Eur eka, Cal., September 4. The same judges will serve at all three shows under Mrs. Helen Mar ing. Portland, superintendent. It is expected that this associ ation will draw a large entry of dogs from outside territory. Ap plications for entry blanks are being received-by Mrs. John Downs. P O box 524. Medford, who will furnish blanks to any one wishing to enter his dngs. POLICE DIG IN Sandersville, Ga. (U.Ri Law enforcement officers in this small Georgia town are getting set for any sort of trouble from the looks of things. A concrete building, similar to battlefront pillboxes, has been built in the middle of town. It will be used by the night police. Boy Scout News Troop I Troop 8 held an Investiture and court of honor last week at St. Marks Guild hall. Troops par ticipating were Nos. 8 and 3, Medford, and 41, Griffin Creek. Tenderfoot badges were award ed to Ferris Simpson, Gregory Milncs and David Baize, Troop 8, and Dennis Patton. Troop 3. Serond class awards went to Roy Doe, Troop 8 (absent due to mumps); Dennis Patton, Troop 3. and John Bodenstab, Everett Nicholson, Robert Guches. Alan Guches, Ralph Weir, Lewis Bright and Dclbert Moore. First class pins went to Dave Danforth, Troop 3; a life rank award to Darrell Brown, Ex plorer Post 3 (absent), and merit badges were awarded to the fol lowing boys: Bob Rammin, Post 8; Lee Stothcrs Mike De Vore and Rich ard Reeves, Troop 8. Other wards included patrol leader badges to Richard Purdy and Mike De Vore, Troop 8; assistant patrol leader badge to Richard Reeves, Troop 8; perfect attendance pins to young Reeves and De Vore, and one-year service stars to Bob Jones and De Vore, Troop 8. Representatives of Musician Union Back J. Vernon Marshall and Mer rill Seay, of Local 597, Medford, American Federation of Musi cians, have returned from Hou ston, Tex., where they repre sented their union at the 53rd an nual convention of the federation. I Convention delegates heard I addresses by James C. Petrillo, I president of the union, and by I Maurice J. Tobln, secretary of I labor. Nearly 1,000 delegates attending, representing 700 lo ' cals and 240, ObO professional musicians who belong to the union In the United States and Canada. The convention has been held each year since 1898 except for two war-time years. The 1050 figure constitutes a 66.8 per cent gain over 1940 in the city. The total 10 years ago was 4,924.
