Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Gilland ers, moving to Fairbanks, own the furniture. Gillanders will be employed as an auditor for the Lathrop company. Gordon Costello, traffic man ager for the airline, said the srupmeni will cost 16 cents a pound, not counting packing charges. He said he believed it would be cheaper than shipment by water. June 15 !U.R) CBS technicians ended a three day strike today, returning to the network's TV and radio stu dios while union and company officials negotiate a settlement in their contract dispute. Federal Mediation Commis sioner J. R. Mandelbaum an nounced the truce last night and said both sides agreed on fur them negotiations starting Mon day. Shows Cancelled The 335 strikers, members of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (AFL) went on strike Monday, forcing can cellation of a number of televi sion shows. Executives of the Columbia Broadcasting System manned equipment and the majority of the television programs went on as scheduled. Radio programs were not affected, CBS said. The strike involved mainly working conditions, days off and lunch periods, with the wage issue a secondary factor. irl Scout News To Show Film The Girl scout film, "Women of Tomorrow," will be shown at the Esquire theater Friday, June 16, at 3 p.m. The film, which had been originally scheduled to appear in Medford earlier in the spring, will be seen at a special performance. Selected cartoons will also be shown. There will be no admission charge and scouts are requested to wear their scout pins or have their registration cards for iden tification. The show is open to both scout members and adult scouts. i "Women of Tomorrow" has been released in 150 cities across : the country. It tells the story of i the Girl scout, beginning with i the Brownie making her "prom- ise." It shows how Girl scout ing gives girls a sense of belong ing, and at the same tme leads them into ever widening in terests in service at home and in the community, learning self reliance at camp, according to the announcement. The film shows how Girl scouts go on to more camping, Counterfeit Money Rir g Rounded Up In America, Canada Vancouver, B. C, June 15 (U.R) More counterfeiting arrests in four American cities were predicted today as police round ed up members of an interna tional ring which had been man ufacturing and passing bogus $100 travelers' checks. British Columbia provincial police and U. S. Federal Bureau of Investigation agents swooped down on a suburban home last night, arresting two men and confiscating an 800-pound print ing press. , Two Htld ; Charged with counterfeiting and held by British Columbia authorities were L. T. Welsh, 39-year-old salesman, and Tony Warfield, 40-year-old accountant. Agents said they expected ar rests in Seattle, Wash.; Port land, Ore.; Minneapolis and St. Louis shortly. It was believed about $100, 000 in bogus Bank of America checks had been cashed in the four cities. Forty-four of the checks turned up in Seattle and 21 more in Edmonton, Alta., of ficers said. Also seized In yesterday's raid, which came after six days of intensive investigation, was a large quantity of photographic equipment and high quality bank paper. Oregon law Students Named to Honor Group Eugene, Ore., June 15 '!U.R) Two University of Oregon law students, graduating next Sun day, have been named to the National Law School Honor so ciety, the order of the COIF. Morris J. Galen of Portland and Robert L. Meyers of Beaver- ! ton were named to the group. C, June 15 (U.R) British Columbia's 32,000 coastal woodworkers called off a threatened strike in the vital west coast industry today six hours before the deadline. Officials of the International Woodworkers of America (CIO) accepted an offer of a 12V4 cent pay increase, a 40-hour week and maintenance of union mem bership from the 163 lumber companies involved in the dis pute. General Increase Asked The union had demanded a general increase of 17 cents an hour, a 40-hour week and un ion shop. The agreement was reached after a continuous nine-hour me diation session with government labor conciliators. Union officials said the accepted the "compro mise" settlement still to be rati fied by the membership, In the best interests of the province. The woodworking Industry earns 40 cents out of every dol lar in British Columbia. A strike would have dealt a blow to much of Canada's export to Britain and to Canadian housing proj ects. Methodists Gain 2,061 New Members Portland, Ore., June 15 (U.R) Rev. Orval M. Whitman, pastor of the Oregon City Methodist church, told the 98th annual Ore gon Conference of Method 1st Churches here yesterday that the church gained 2061 new mem bers during the past year. Rev. Whitman said the latest total for the church was 43,370 members. The clergyman said 1536 in fants and 1408 adults were bap tised into the Methodist church during the year. Rev. Oliver J. Gill, superin tendent of the Forest Grove dis trict, reported on new churches under construction at Hillsboro, Oregon City and Woodburn. Dr. Roy A. Fedje, Salem district superintendent, reported a new church being built at Sweet Home. Three candi dates are seeking the post va cated by John P. Moffatt, who is not seeking reelection. Local Firm to Build Homes in Corvallis Corvallis. June 14 Bnuer and Edmonds, Medford construction firm, has been granted a permit here to build 25 low-cost homes in the northwest section of Cor vallis. Cost of the project Is to be $155,000, according to the per mit issued by the city engineer's office. Another project to help lick the housing shortage here is a six story, 48 - unit apartment house to be built at the corner of 16th and Jackson streets by the Ketell Construction com pany. City Engineer V. L. Good night said the project is to cost between $400,000 and $500,000, and will be the largest apart ment house in the city.
