The total this morning was 2:18 inches, and the rain was con tinuing. The Bend area did not get the hail that caused considerable damaged around Madras. Prineville, Ore., June 12 (U.R) Heavy week-end rain caused thousands of dollars worth of damage to some central Oregon crops, but farmers said that the downpour would be of Incalcul able benefit to many others. The rain, Interspersed with hail, swept the area Saturday night and Sunday, washing nut several growing fields of grain and wrecking irrigation works. Hail for a time lay six inches deep on the highway between Prineville and Madras. Solomon Appreciates Support of Friends Portland. Ore.. June 12 (U.R) Gus J. Solomon, returning from his Washington senate Judiciary subcommittee hearing on his fit ness to serve as a federal district Judge, said today he appreicatcd the support of his friends against communist charges made at the hearing. Although he declined com ment on the hearing testimony, Solomon said he did "certainly appreciate the friendship and support of so many of my friends." Solomon has been serving as federal judge under an interim appointment by President Tru man last fall. The senate committee has not announced when it plans to make Its final decision on the appointment.
