Fined State police said that Kenneth Larson, 810 King street, arrested by a state policeman on a drunken driving charge, pleaded guilty in justice court today and was fined $250 and costs and sentenced to 30 days in the county jail. A car driven by Larson reportedly struck a pole at East Jackson and Genes see streets yesterday. Collision Three cars were involved in a rear-end collision mishap early Sunday about one half mile south of Medford on highway 99. Cars operated by Charles Donald Lundy, Murphy, and Maynard Mounce, were con siderably damaged, according to reports filed with police. Also involved was a car driven by Lawrence Jones, 712 Victory street. Son Born Word has been re ceived here of the birth of a son to Lt. and Mrs. Gale Graham in Japan. May 22. Mrs. Graham is a daughter of Mrs. Cora Brinson, South Ivy street and Lt. Graham is a son of Mr. and Mrs. Hugh Graham, Charlotte Ann road. The new parents have been in Japan the past year where Lt. Graham is stationed with the army. Previously they had lived one year in the Philippine islands. Young Men Invited to Navy Reserve Meeting Young men Interested in the naval reserve organized electron ics company which is now being formed in Medford are urged to attend today's meeting to be held at 7:30 p.m. at the Federal build ing, 33 North Riverside avenue, according to Lt. Henry Fisher, USNR. Men over 17 years of age are qualified for assignment and may train for ratings in radio, radar, sonar, electronics or signaling. After activtation, pay will be granted for drill periods and men will be issued sea bags with com plete uniforms. Mr. Leitli was born in cs- canaba, Mich., Sept. 1, 1879, the son of Thomas and Mary Leith. He had been a resident of Oregon for 60 years and of Medford for the past 25 years. He was united in marriage to Bar bara Eudora Mitchell, Sept. 4, 1910, at Murphy, Ore. or the past 20 years he has been an employee of Timber Products company as millwright and watchman. Surviving, in addi tion to the widow, are one son, Floyd Medford, and one sister, Mrs. L. M. Mitchell, Grants Pass, RAY MAGRUDER Ray L. Magruder, 68, son of the late Constantine and Mar gery E. Magruder, passed away in Red Bluft. Cal., Saturday. He was born in Central Point Feb, 18, 1882. He was a member of the Aniicnt Order United Work men lodge. At an early age he went to California, where he worked in biifewav stores at Yreka, Corn ing, Orland and Red Bluff. Cal., following this work until the last three vears. retiring on ac count of poor health. Survivors include two sisters, Mark Coker. Vallrio. Cal.. and Lettie L. Gregory. Central Point, and one brother, Vernon, Portland. Funeral services will be con ducted from Perl funeral home Wednesday at 3:30 p.m. with the Rev. L. H. Camp, central foint. officiating. Pacific Hiahwav north, has returned home after spending the past three weeks at tending a series of hearings held by the legislative interim tax committee. The committee, ap pointed by Gov. Douglas McKay, held its most recent hearings in Salem. Coos Bay, Newport. Tilla mook and Astoria. Another series of meetings last month included one in Medford. Day. former judge of Jackson county and former member of the state tax commission, said the series was an effort by the legislature and the governor to acquaint taxpayers with "abso lute facts' about the financial situation of the state and to get the reaction of taxpayers about Oregon's tax problems. Wilchek drove hig truck onto the wires, anchoring them with the front wheels. Then he directed children and traffic around the wires until police arrived. About six-sevenths of Green land, world's largest island, is capped by an ice mass up to a mile and a half thick.
