Complement Near Completion for Navy Reserve Unit The minimum complement of the new organized naval reserve unit in Medford is nearly filled, according to Lt. Henry Fisher, USNR, commanding officer of the new volunteer electronic warfare unit here. After com pletion of preliminary adminis trative details, it is expected that the company can be activated within several weeks. A meet ing of the group was held here last night. Officer personnel interested in the activity are advised that nearly all of the billits have been filled. Major vacancy re maining for assignment is that of lieutenant commander or senior grade lieutenant who can qualify to take over the com mand of the organization or serve as executive officer. To aualifv for duty, officers of the rank of lieutenant com mander must be under the age of 40. Junior ranks must be 36 years old or younger. All offi cers must have the qualification of D. C. or T. Billets Open Limited billets remain open for enlisted men with ratings as radioman, radarman, sonarman, electronics technician, signal man, storekeeper, yeoman and Dharmicists mate. Men with no previous navy experience are eligible to enlist and strike for any of the ratings of the unit. All enlisted men will draw complete sea bags with uniform as soon as the unit is activated. Personnel will draw pay for attending the regu lar drill sessions of the unit. Because of the small size of the company, first men who sign up will be" accepted for duty. Men in the Medford area inter ested in the unit may contact Lieutenant Fisher at the Califor nia Oregon Power company, or Chief T. R. Bartholomew at the naval recruiting office at the post office. The group will meet again at 7:30 p.m. next Monday, at the Federal building. Motor Sales Firm To Move Location Edgerton Motor company, 132 South Riverside avenue, Olds mobile auto dealers here, today announced plans for moving into new, enlarged quarters about September 1. New location for the firm will be 415 South Riverside, and the company will spend more than $20,000 in enlarging, remodel ing and refinishing the existing structure there. Twenty-five car repair stalls, together with a body plant and grease racks will be included un der one roof, it was announced, allowing a complete, modern and adequate repair set-up for mo torists. Opening date of the new facility will be announced later. E. H. Edgerton of the company left yesterday for the eastern auto factory, where he will spend some time endeavoring to arrange for increased deliveries of automobiles. Ache son went before the committee to tell why the administration wants broader powers and more money to strengthen free nations against Communism, Mumps Outbreak Falls To Ten New Cases Communicable disease in the county fell to 19 new cases last week, with the current outbreak of mumps apparently lessening. Only 10 new cases of this dis ease were listed, including four in Medford, three in Central Point and one each in Shady Cove. Sams Valley and Phoenix. Twenty-four new cases of the disease had been reported the previous week. Medford also listed two cases of whooping cough and one new case each of tuberculosis. Vin cent's angina, measles and in fluenza. Ashland reported one ca?e of pneumonia, and Central Point one of chicken pox. Mrs. Marjorie Hopkins, Girl scout executive, said that it is recommended that all "fly-up" Brownies attend the first week, July 9 to 16. This week has been especially arranged to accommodate the youngest campers, with special counsellors for the week, and emphasis of the camp program placed on young members' needs and interests. Aiked To Chang Girl scouts in more advanced units are being asked to change their camp registrations to the second, third or fourth weeks to accommodate the first - year campers. Mrs. Hopkins said that there are other reasons for this re quested change in registration, and cited the fact that snow is usually still on Mt. McLoughlin the first w,?ek. so the program for the older girls has to be de layed. June 6 F u r t h e r plans for the daily vacation Bible school to Be conducted Dy h-noe-nix Presbyterian church were made at a meeting Sunday after noon. The school will open Mon day, June 12, The age range for attendance has been changed and a nursery class will be conducted in which children of preschool age will be enrolled. Any child who will be eligible to enter school in the fall will be assigned to the pri mary class, and there will also be classes for junior and inter mediate ages of boys and girls. Song services, object lessons and supervised recreation under competent leaders will be fea tures of the program each day, the committee states. The school will last two weeks be arranged all the way through, she said. May Mix Ages If these suggested registration changes cannot be made, she said, existing reservations will be observed, but as a result younger girls may find them selves in units with more sixth grade scouts. The scout office asked that notification of registration changes be mailed or phoned there by Monday, June 12, if scouts find they can make the suggested changes. Tuesday, June t. 1958 MEDFORD (OREGON) MAIL TRIBUNE FIVE Unscheduled Visits by Stork Runs Hospital Short on Diapers Princvillc, Ore., June 6 (U.R) The stork's refusal to cooperate with Memorial hospital here cre ated a diaper shortage. The hospital opened only last Thursday and no babies were scheduled to arrive until later this week. But the stork disre garded orders and brought two and will be in session each day from 9 to 11:30 a.m. Friday, June 23, an evening program will close the school. Mrs. J. O. N. Poling, who Is in charge of the program, has asked that all helpers be at the church next Sunday at 3 p.m. and final plans will be discussed and assignments made.
