Newspaper Page TextFOUR MEDFOHD (OREGON) Conditions Said Ideal For Forest Reseeding Portland, May 27 Nature will reseed plentifully ten of thou sands of acres this fall in the douKlas fir forests of Washington and Oregon. That is the report of W. D. Hagenstein, forest engineer for the forest conservation commit tee of the Pacific Northwest For est industries. He said that a bountiful seed year Is in the mak ing. Tiny cones now cover hun dreds of millions of trees. They will ripen during the summer. Conditions are ideal for re see d i n g Hagenstein reported. Loggers burned much slash last fall and large areas are ready for natural reseeding. Onlv fires. Hagcnstein said, can spoil this potentially fine year. He uiged summer-long alertness and caution by forest users to prevent fires. Gold Hill Gold Hill. May 27 Veterans of Foreign Wars will hold dedi cation services for the new mem orial marker at the city hall lawn Tuesdav. Mav 30, at 10:30 a.m. Heads of the contributing organi zations are invited to be special guests and all citizens are in vited to attend the services. Clyde A. Beck, senior vice-commander of the VFW will be in charge of the service. The staff of the high school paper, "Beaver Tales, ,r and the journalism class, enjoyed a pic nic at Jackson Hot Springs May 25 and enjoyed swimming and supper there. Mr. and Mrs. Les ter Thompson have also been elected janitor and part-time jan itor for the next term. Mrs. George Dorman served as chairman of the counting board and Mrs. Lester Parker acted as judge on the same election board In precinct 79. The Oregon Liberty Bell came to the school Thursday morning so all the school children were able to see it and hear it ring. The bell was here in behalf of the current savings bond drive. Mrs. Kenneth Palmer and her parents. Mr. and Mrs. L. D. Pat terson, arrived home Friday from Wichita. Kan., where they vis ited relatives the past three weeks. Mrs. Palmer went from here to Casa Grande. Aril., and accompanied her parents from there to Kansas. Mr. and Mrs. Patterson plan to spend several weeks visiting here this summer. Chief Boatswain Mate Ralph Kelley of Virginia, accompanied by his brother and family, Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence Kelley and two sons, Robert and William of Nrbraska. have been visiting at the home of their brother and family, Mr. and Mrs. E. W. Kel ley and daughters of Blackwell Hill. They plan to return to their home and station early this week. According to the U.
