EIGHT MEDFORD (OHECOW) cmena Recital Presented By Piano Students In Medford Church Piano pupils of Mrs. D. F. Huson and her daughter, Mibs Margaret Huson, were presented in recital recently, the event be ing at the First Presbyterian church parlors. The rooms were arranged with bouquets of irii and bridal wreath, and tapers lighted the scene. Ushers were Misses Ann Denman, Laura Mae Huson, Lau ral Jewett, Ruth Jones, Nancy Cottingham and Barbara Cook. John Van Dyke, Jim Perry, Douglas Pruitt and Stephen San ders assisted with seating ar rangements. Refreshments and a social hour followed the program, and pouring were Mrs. Frank Van Dyke, Mrs. Kenneth Denman and Mrs. Albert James. Serving cake were Mrs. O. H. Bengtson, Mrs. Paul Selby, Mrs. Allan Perry and Mrs. Aubrey Norris. Pupils of Mrs. Huson who ap peared were Shirley Hopkins, Sandra Jewett, John Norris, Brent Bengtson, Karalee Selby, Linda Norris, Douglas Pruitt, Bonnie Van Dyke, Diana Get chcll, Jim Perry, Laura Mae Huson, Ann Denman, Margaret Selby, John Van Dyke, Jacque Colton, Janet Merrill, Melody Pierce, Sandra Laing, Steven Sanders, Barbara Cook, Nancy Cottingham, Margaret Huson and Laural Jewett. Miss Huson's pupils playing were Forrest Cook, Judy Mor ris and Linda Smith. Ruth Jones and Laura Mae Huson sang a duet, with Barbara Cook as ac companist. Guests musicians for the reci tal were members of the senior high school string quartet, Miss Joyce Montgomery, violinist; Miss Maureen Rice, second violin. Miss Robene Starcher, violist and Miss Margaret Hu son, cellist. They played two numbers. Miss Melba Chehak Is director of the quartet. St. Mary's neighborhood will hold its court of awards and Brownie fly-up Monday, May 22, in conjunction with a meeting of St. Mary's Parents' club. Fourth grade Brownies of oth er neighborhods will meet Tues day, May 23, at 4:15 p.m. at the Scout house and will take part in the annual fly-up when they will receive their wings and be invested as intermediate Girl scouts. Third grade Brownies will sing farewell to their sister Brownies, the "fly-ups" will be welcomed into the ranks of the Girl scouts by fifth grade scouts, and the traditional fairy will wave her wand over each Brownie as she recites her Girl scout laws. Saturday. May 20, the J. C. Penney store will open its Girl scout eauirment service. Each Girl scout visiting the depart ment will receive a souvenir. Uniformed Girl scouts will serve as ushers at the foot of the stairs and will direct scouts to the new department. Artist To Exhibit With Azalea Show Gold Hill Fritz Wertz. Gold Hill artist, has been invited by the all-year events committee of Brookings, Ore., to show his wa ter color paintings in conjunc-1 tion with the annual azalea show to be held in Brookings May 20 and 21. Mr. Wertz exuects to exhibit about 80 paintings in all. Twenty nine will be the portraits of the Gold Hill old-timers.' These were shown last summer at the famous Maryhill Museum of Fine Arts and later were shown in the art gallery at Yakima, Wash. Remainder of the show will in clude ranch scenes on the Rogue river, buildings and scenes of historic Jacksonville and scenes painted on the Oregon coast. Guests Attend Meeting Degree of Honor Club Allen Ford and Larry Copple were guests at the last meeting of Degree of Honor Junior club held in Lincoln school gymna sium. Bruce Larson received a Drize for bringing the guests and also presided over me meeting. Dennis Von Ting acted as past president, 'Gail Tays first vice president, Nancy Tays second vice-president, Virginia Carlson flat! bearer. Sharon Best usher and Dennis Von Ting yell leader. Mary Bonner played several selections on the piano and Nan cy Tays gave a baton demonstra tion. It was announced that the club members now have 65 service and sunshine caps. Party Announced For Bride-Elect Miss Lorraine Moffat will be honored at a pre-nuptial shower to be given by members of Roxy Ann Grange at the Grange hall tomorrow night. Miss Moffata daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Bruce Moffatt, 2178 Spring street, is the fiancee of Vinton McMichael of Yreka, Cal., and the wedding has been set for June 11 in the First Christian church in Med ford. Both young people are at tending Southern Oregon college. The Grange announces that all members are invited to the shower.
