May 19. 1950 Junior High Track Team Places 2nd Grants Pass Junior high with 60 points won the triangular track meet between Medford, Ashland and the junior Cave men on the local high school field vesterdav afternoon. Wallick, Atlas Draw in Bout Leo Wallick missed several at tempts to apply his deadly pile driver on the Great Atlas in the main event of last night's ar mory wrestling card but he gave the Peacock of the Ring a suffi cient going over to earn a draw in a bout which was filled with hair-raising action. Wallick put together two back body drops and a press to cop the first fall but the Atlas hit him in the groin early in the second session doubling Wallick up where he was easy prey for a full nelson. In the remaining minute neith er was able to gain an advan taee. When the bell rang Wal lick didn't want to quit and cuffed the Atlas around the ring until Referee Earl Yoakley broke it up by escorting the Atlas out of the arena. Dale Riser, 19-year-old broth er of Jack Riser, lacked suffi cient experience for Rarl Gray and dropped a two-out-of-three verdict to the tough Wisconsin farmer in an action-packed scrap. A self-taught wizard with a Winchester, Parsons, using a .22 caliber rifle, throws a 2s hard maple block into the air cracks the block and splinters the pieces with four bullets in an average of three seconds. Throws Behind Him In another feat. Parsons throws three clay pigeons behind him, between his legs, reaches for his model 12 shotgun, swings around and shatters them before they reach the ground. Parsons stresses safety prac tices In the handling of firearms throughout his program. As an additional feature, at the close of the exhibition, he will answer any questions and discuss shoot ing problems with members of the audience. Throughout the exhibition, In, which he uses 10 rifles, shotguns and pistols, Parsons maintains a rapid-fire barrage of humorous comment. This difficult accom plishment of co-ordinating shoot ing, breathing and talking is per formed by no other shooter and required three years to perfect. Parsons, who shoots under the sponsorship of Winchester-Western, is a nntive of Tennessee, had his first .22 rifle at the age of eight and bagged his first limit of quail when only nine, He has been shooting ever since. Morgan 524 2499 Phoenix High Loses 15 to 0 To Drain Nine Phoenix high dropped out of the possible state class B base ball state cnampionsnip Dertn yesterday when an experienced and hard-hitting Drain outfit took a 15 to 0 decision in game played at the fairgrounds park. The boys coached by Les Wil son were limited to four hits and although the Drain hurler got in to hot water on several occa sions due to his own wildness, Phoenix could not push over runs. Eight hits were made off three Phoenix hurlers in the seven-inning game. Big Phoenix Rally Biggest threat by the Rogue valley team came in the fourth when with one out Harold Holl way singled, Thompson doubled and Keene drew a walk. How ever, the next two batters struck out. In the fifth stanza, with one out, Pete Furry reached first on an error, Schmelzer walked and Hite went to first on a fielder s choice but a strikeout by the next batter ended that. Cade Fans 17 Boys Leftv Cade, hurling for Drain, struck out 17 Phoenix players and walked four. Except for the first inning when an error gave Drain a big break the game was closely fought until the visitors broke out with a four-run blast in the sixth and eight in the seventh. Local Track Team Picked Medford high trackmen are strong favorites to capture the annual class A track meet at Cor vallis this week-end and even highly-regarded Klamath Falls believes the Black Tornado will win first honors. The local school qualified eight entries in 11 events com pared with the Pels qualifying the same number in 10. However, Medford gained an edge just the same by grabbing 10 first places in the district meet while Klamath qualifiers were all in second place. Events are scheduled on Bell field at Oregon State college this afternoon and Saturday after noon with both A and B schools in the competition. Lynn Mohter Pitches No-No Game for Rooks Eugene. Ore..
