By Earnest Hoboracht United Press Correspondent Tokyo, May 17 (U.R) The war that once was cold is hot in Asia. The fight against communism is against men who have guns and who are using them. It is real war. Every day men are being killed in their struggle to halt communism. In the five years since the end of World War II observers in Tokyo have seen the cold war gather intensity and creep or sweep through country after country. Now it is hot, and in many regions politioal maneuver ing has given way to troop man euvering. War Being Fought A war is being fought. On one side are those who believe in communism. They are engaged in actual fighting for their cause. Others who do not believe in communism are trying to keep it from engulfing more territory. In many cases they are shooting bullets and being shot. It's not all black or white, left or right, right or wrong. Some communist backers are motivated primarily by national istic feelings which have the traditional support and sym pathy of the United States. Some people have been aided by com munists bent on weaning them away from the western powers. In almost all the far eastern countries the anti-government forces, the rebels, the guerillas whatever they are called are aligned directly or indirectly with communism and look to Moscow as to fountain of hope. In many nations, the question often is nat whether the com munist party should be outlawed, but how the communist military campaigns can be halted and their guns silenced so the people can live in peace under a gov ernment elected by the majority. Korea Is Example Korea is an example. The com munist government in the north Is a mence to the existence of the republic established In the smith, with the blessing of the United Nations. Armed guerril las from the north prowl In the south, killing and raiding. Artil lery duels across the border are not rare. There ut talk of a full fledncd invasion of the south from the nnrih. In the Philippines the Hnk rebels are led by communists They attack travelers, they strike at towns. The constabulary was not strong enmiRh to put them down in a campaign that hegan soon after the war and went on until recently when the job was turned over to the regular armv. The links still are killing, loot ing, fomenting. In Indo-China. a Moscow trained communist heads the rebels. Russia has recognized his guerrilla headquarters as the government of the country. Hit run attacks are plentiful, and larger engagements are being fought much of the time. alsa One sip of Guild Wine is wort 1 1000 words! WINE GIOWERS 0UI10 IODI, CaLIP.
