Show At Veteran Center Central Point Central Point Navy Mothers' club is sponsor ing a puppet show to be given at the Camp White domiciliary center Sunday, April 30, at 2 p. m. The show will be given by seventh grade pupils of the Cen tral Point schools, of which Mrs. A. E. Eitemiller is teacher. The Navy Mothers will also serve cookies and coffee for the veterans during the coffee hour and Mothers' day cards will be distributed. Earlier in the season the Cen tral Point schools cooperated with the club in presenting a puppet show and one-act play for the veterans. These were much enjoyed, it is stated, and men of the center have asked for another performance. Portland, Ore., Apr. 28 (U.R) A sixth pet dog has been poison ed in Portland's northeast resi dential district, police said today. Luncheon And Show Planned Tuesday By Church Circle On the calendar for next week is a luncheon and style show planned by Grace circle of First Presbyterian church for TiiHnv The luncheon and show will be new from 11 a. m. until 1:30 p. m. A baked food sale will also be held during the event. Tickets will be on sale at the door. Mrs. Ben Stafford is luncheon chairman and she will be assist ed by other members of the circle. The style show will be given by Adrienne's store. Four Guests Honored At Birthday Dinner Jacksonville A birthday din ner was recently held at the new ranch home of Mr. and Mrs. E. C. Dale near Jacksonville, the occasion celebrating the birth day anniversaries of four mem bers of the family. An enormous birthday cake was served in honor of all four honored guests, and gifts were presented. Present were Mr. and Mrs. Ed Sharits, Applegate; Mr. and Mrs. Alfred Tyean and family, Mr. and Mrs. George Hodge, Med ford, Mr. and Mrs. Alfonso Gon zelas and family, Medford, Mrs. Edith Dale, Leonard Settell and the host and hostess. Horticulturist "peaks 1 For Jacksonville Club; Mrs. Coleman Reports Jacksonville Guest speaker for the last meeting of the Jack sonville Garden club was Don Berry, horticultural inspector in the office of the county agent The meeting was held in the club rooms in the U. S. hotel, with Mrs. Lawrence Luy as hostess and Mrs. Dee Hendrickson and Mrs. Minnie Offenbacher co hostesses. Mr. Berry told how to recog nize a few of the 900,000 types of insects, friends and foes, and advised his audience to buy in sect sprays from a reliable source and to follow instructions on package or bottle when using. He encouraged his audience to seek advice from the extension office for their gardening problems. Mrs. Ray Coleman reported on the Jacksonville Memorial park project, saying a town beauty spot had been created. Several trees have been planted and the lawn is carefully tended, she re oorted. A guard rail of logs is being considered. Members were asked to attend the district meeting of garden clubs to be held May 9 in the Rogue River Grange hall. This will be an all-day meeting. Miss Claire Hanley displayed magnolia blooms from her yard and briefly spoke on roadside beauty as well as the beauty of the old fruit and nut trees in Jacksonville. The tea table was centered with a colorful small May pole, each ribbon ending in a candy filled basket used for favors. Mrs. William Winningham and Mrs. Godward poured. (U.R) Thieves who broke into a state liquor store here were men of discrim inating taste. They cleaned the store of the most expensive brand and left the remainder untouched. Annual Brownie Revel To Be Held Saturday The annual "Brownie Revel" will be held Saturday, April 29 in Lithia park, Ashland, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Each Brownie is to bring a kerchief and a sack lunch. The revel is to be in the nature of a spring frolic and will fea ture singing, dancing and play ing games, especially interna tional songs and dances. The frolic is in charge of Mrs. Charles Ely and Mrs. Marshall Bessonette who will be assisted by 15 program aides. Scout lead ers urge all brownies to attend for a day of fun, frolic and friendship. Parents' Extension Unit Plans Meeting Tuesday Medford Parents Extension unit will meet Tuesday, May 2 at senior high school at 7:30 p.m. A lesson on "Improved Home Lighting" will be given by Miss D. Eula Wintermote and final plans will be made for the home makers' festival to be held at Central Point May 3. Mrs. W. H. Fisher is in charge of the hostess committee for the evening. Interested women are invited to attend. Friday. April 28, 1950 MEDFORD (OREQOH) MAIL TRIBUNE FIVE Mrs. Lewis Conger Hostess for Circle Last meeting of circle five, Woman's Society of Christian Service, was held at the home of Mrs. Lewis Conger on Ross lane. Mrs. H. Chirgwin presided over the meeting and also gave the devotions, Mrs. F. E. Brandon read an article on rummage sales. Following the meeting, Mrs. Conger served dessert. Next meeting of the circle will be held May 16 at the home of Mrs. Gilbert Brood. A potluck luncheon will be served, and members will tie a quilt. Mem bers are asked to meet at the church at 11 a.m. for transporta tion and are to bring a darning needle, thimble and a pair of scissors.
