Send 'em to Jack McElroy, co "Welcome to Hollywood," ABC network, Hollywood 28, Cal. After a guest on McElroy's program told him how important the blades were to the natives ot New Guinea (she said one blade was worth $1,000 to them) in their wood carving, one ot their best means of making a living, McElroy sent out a plea to his nationwide radio audience ask ing them to ship him their old single or double edgers and he would see that they were shipped to the New Guineans to aid them in their livelihood. a a e Harry Kannasto, who ap peared on the KYJC "Original Amateur Hour" contest last month with a fine quartet from Southern Oregon college, has or ganized a twelve piece band and will open this Saturday night at 9 p.m. at Merrick's ballroom. "Robert Montgomery Speaking" at 8:45 p.m. Table Rock Table Rock, Apr. 27 E. R. Hull has recently purchased some pure bred angus cattle and ex pects to build up from these a small farm herd. Miss Thalia Doty, local sten ographer, was one of the class initiated into the Medford Busi ness and Professional Women's club last Thursday in Ashland. The weeping willow on the Fred Smith place has under gone a complete trim of its long branches, this time by Copco workmen. Since the team of work horses on the Dell Morrison place was taken to the Butte Creek dis trict, the Table Rock community which in past years contained more than 100 of these, noble steeds is left without a single work horse. Farm work here is going ahead full blast with a large in crease In acreage being seeded to alfalfa. Irrigation on some of the light soils has begun. Mrs. Silas Goodlin is in San Francisco where her small child will undergo surgery. Jimmy Allen and wife were In Ashland Sunday where Jimmy attended a meeting of the Shakespearean board of direct' ors. Several acres of land on the Taylor and Roblson farms are being cleared, leveled and drained for farm crops. Mr. Tay lor will plant his cucumbers on some of this new land and will seed the old cucumber plots to clover for soil building purposes. Bill Bishop has finished his bulb planting and Is now setting weeding machine in shape for Your Health and lis Care ty OR. WILLIAM IRADY. M.O. Readers should addreat laavlrhM ret Dr. William Brady, 26S II Camlao, Beverly Hills. Calif. HOW TO AVOID The mother of a three-year-old boy writes that "He has had trouble since birth with his bowels." Being unendowed with second sight, I don't know whether the child has some congeni tal (present at birth) defect or abnormality, but for the present pur pose let us as sume that the case is just as mother de- Ur. Brady scribes. "He is so terribly constipated. The doctor has recommended a couple of types of laxatives, which did not help. I give him practically every night . . ." The poor kid! Even at three there must be some sort of right eous indignation and rancour at the prospect of taking such a dose practically every night. I'm no psychologist, but it seems to me that inflicting such unneces sary and unpleasant medicine on a child is bound to have a bad effect on the child's nature. ". . . which I know is the wrong thing, but am afraid to let him go.". There the mother betrays her self. She plies the child with the useless or harmful medicine merely to gratify her morbid fancy. A healthy, properly fed baby will never need any other laxa tive than the right food. Food is laxative you know or rather I should say very likely you don't know but I'm telling you so. All food, I mean any food that is fit to eat is laxative. Some foods are more laxative than others. But no particular item of food is "binding" or "constipating." To imagine that this or that good food is "bind ing" is to show your ignorance, that's all. Every day one hears Wiseacres or iust plain kunckle heads say "Oh, I can't eat cheese" or perhaps they mention some other food, "because it is so binding." Cheese is less laxa tive than corn, cabbage or ap ple, perhaps, but this is no rea son why any one should not eat cheese, any kind of cheese he likes at any time he likes. The little boy's mother is "afrajd to let him go" that is, afraid to quit interfering with the natural autonomic or auto matic regulation of the stomach and bowel function. Many millions of Yankee Wiseacres are subject to the same phobia. They are not afraid as a rule, to leave to nature the regulation of the function of the lungs, the function of the kid neys and the function of the heart. But that is merely because the charlatans have not taught them to interfere with the na tural autonomic or automatic regulation of these functions. the summer season. An old house recently torn down on the Nealon ranch, part of which must have been some 80 years old, was found to have foundation sills and floor joists hewn out of pine logs and raft ers made from cottonwood, the latter being in good state of preservation. Wooden pegs and cut nails were used throughout and the lumber, some boards be ing as wide as 20 inches, was evidently sawed with the old time up and down saws run by manpower. The Hearthstone, a paper pub lished in New York, was found which showed a subscription price of 25 cents a year. Charley Hoover was a Table Rock visitor Thursday, looking over the clover and lotus plots on the Table Top farms which he is now interested in. He ex pressed himself as well pleased with the outlook for a seed crop. He claimed these plots to be some of the finest he has ever Inspected. Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Hull mo tored to Martinez, Cal., April 15, and returned with Mrs. Sadie Duane, a resident of that place and a friend of the Hulls, who will spend the next two weeks with them. Table Rock Community club will meet Friday night, April 28, with a short business meeting followed by program of moving pictures and music in charge of Jimmie Allen and Mrs. R. E. Nealon. Refreshments will con sist of cup cakes and punch and the refreshment committee asks each lady to bring cup cakes. F. E. LIFELONG TROUBLE In a great many cases If not most cases the constipation or physic habit is established in the earliest weeks of infancy by giv ing the baby that first dose of castor oil. In therapeutics, the art of treatment, castor oil is recog nized as a good remedy for acute diarrhea because one large dose of it quickly sweeps out the of fending food or food residue and then locks the bowel for a day or more. But castor oil is no longer regarded as safer or less irritat ing than other physics, for infant, child or adult. In fact it is rarely prescribed today. ..
