Major Expansion The company first began its Medford operations last August in its first major expansion move since it was organized in Eugene by Melvin Moore about two years ago. Open house at the new plant will be observed from 12 noon until 4 p.m- Saturday, officials said. All machinery is in place and the plant will be ready for operation except for a few car loads of steel that are en route here. Refreshments will be serv ed by the hosts, Moore, president-manager, Raymond Mencke, general manager of the Medford plant, and Frank Dixon, office manager here. Bridges Followed Party Line, Morse Says Washington, Apr. 8 (U.R) Sen. Wayne L. Morse, (R., Ore.) said today he often has expressed belief that Harry Bridges, west coast union leader convicted of perjury, "has followed the line of the communist party." Morse, in a statement, said that he repeatedly has said that Bridges followed the party line "in many of his actions and ex pressions." , "The American jury system is a sound and a tested device for settling a disputed issue of fact in any legal proceeding," Morse said. Wool Price Supports 45.2 Cents a Pound Washington, Apr. 6 (U.R) The agriculture department an nounced today It will support producer prices of 1950 wool at a national average of 45.2 cents a pound. The 1949 support price aver aged 42.3 cents a pound. But the 1950 support price is somewhat lower than average prices pro ducers have been receiving re cently as a result of the boom in the world price of fine wool. Wool is one of three farm commodities which were expect ed to get higher support prices this year as a result of the 1949 farm act. The other two com modities are rice and tobacco. The law permits wool sup ports to be set at from 60 to 90 per cent of the so-called "parity" or fair, price. But it also says support must be set at a level which will encourage U. S. pro duction of 360 million pounds a year. Two More Men Enter Air Force Service Two more young Medford men have enlisted in the United States air force, and are now at Lackland air force base, San Antonio, Tex., for 13 weeks of basic training, according to Sat. Chapman today issued regu lations for granting of rights-of- way for logging roacis across timber lands administered Dy the bureau of land management in western Oregon. rUatnan sniri the regulations were designed to "assure equal access to an who purcnase um ber in the so-called "O and C area" of the western section of Oregon. Some 35 billion board feet of merchantable timber is administered in the area. Basically, the proposed regu lations provide that where an existing road system has suffi cient capacity for use by the road builder, the government and its licensees or such addi tional capacity can be provided by the government rather than the construction of a duplicate road system, the government will seek to obtain the right to use such a road system for the marketing and management of its timber. Three Inches of Snow Covers Prineville Prineville, Ore., Apr. 6 (U.R) Prineville residents got up this morning to find three inches of snow covering the ground. A warm rain, chilled by fall ing temperatures, turned to snow during the night and put a white, slushy blanket over the Prine ville rea.
