Both vehicles were "considerably dam aged but no one was injured, officers said. Vacationing Mrs. Julia Whit man and three daughters are spending Easter vacation with Mrs. Whitman's mother, Mrs. T. C. Dugan, in Eagle Point. The visitors are from Kerby, where Mrs. Whitman is a graiie school teacher. They will return there on Sunday. Mrs. Whitman has also accepted a contract to teach at the school again this coming year. To Build Permits for con struction of three new homes were granted in the city build ing inspector's office today. R. I. Simmons will build a $3,000 house at 821 Bcckman street, Ira T. Burns will spend $6,000 on a new home at 237 Girard drive and Boyd Kline will put up a $6,000 residence at 953 Jasper street. To Be Dentist Robert A. Van Galder, son of Mr. and Mrs. A. C. Van Galder, Jacksonville, re ceived word yesterday that he had successfully passed examina tions and been accepted for en try at Oregon Dental college, Portland. He has been attend ing Southern Oregon college. From San Francisco Mr. and Mrs. Aubrey G. Smith, San Francisco, are visiting his sister. Mrs. Ethel Latham, 335 South Ivy street. Smith, who was superintendent of schools here from 1920 to 1925, has been an instructor in the history depart ment of Balboa high school in San Francisco for the past 21 years. Mr. and Mrs. Smith drove to Medford with Miss Merl Classey, Oakland teacher, who formerly taught here. She is a guest of Miss Annette Gray, 808 Dakota avenue. Program at "Y" The Fri day family night program at the YMCA tomorrow will include a motion picture, "A Day in the Life of a Cerebral Palsied Child," It was stated this morn ing. The picture is being shown by the Oregon Society for Crip pled Children and Adults as part of the annual Easter Seal sale. In addition, the usual program of activities is planned, the "Y" announced. . Visiting Mrs. Michael Stak, New Haven, Conn., arrived last evening by. United Air lines to spend about a month visiting in the valley. Mrs. Stak, the former Dorothy Kent, is a daughter of Mrs. C. A. Hansen, Oak Grove road, and Homer Kent, Butte Falls. Anjous and Bartletts Due for Bud Spray Pink bud spray should now be applied to anjous and bart letts for scab control since the flower buds are now well separ ated in the cluster. County Agent C. B. Cordy said today. The spray should be applied to other varieties as the buds separate, he said. He advised the use of two gal lons of liquid lime sulphur or six pounds ot dry lime sulphur per 100 gallons for bartletts and bosc. For other varieties, he said orchurdists should use one and a half pounds of ferbam per 100 gallons. For green fruit worms which are now hatching, orchardists should add one and a half pounds of 50 per cent DDT to the mix ture. Registration Campaign Set by Women Voters An intensive campaign to reg ister eligible voters for the pri mary Ls being planned by the Medford League ot Women Vot ers under the direction of Mrs. Hugh Collins, chairman of vot-1 ers' services for the league. The league will maintain a booth in Penncy's store where voters may register, beginning April 11. and later will register voters during evening hours, using the city's grade schools. Mrs. Collins has planned a "briefing" meeting for workers who will be in charge of the registration booths, and this will be held Friday. April 7. at 2:30 p.m., at the Collins' home, 120 South Oakdale avenue. Jacksonville Market Sold to Medford Men Jacksonville. Apr. 6 Announcement- was made today of the purchase of the Jacksonville Meat Market by Con and Ron Devore. Medford. The Devores operated the City Market in Medford for a number of years and for the past two years op erated the East Side market in Ashland. Tom Dunnlngton, former own er of the Jacksonville market, had operated the shop for about the past 30. years. Harold Reed had been associated with Dun nington for many years. Rowe, manager of the Jackson county production and marketing administration committee, today reminded pear growers of a public hearing to be held Monday at 0 a.m. In the Journal building in Portland to consider proposed amendments to the marketing agreement and order regulating the handling of winter pears grown in Oregon, Washington and California. The proposed amendments would authorize separate regu lations for export shipments, and permit the establishment of min imum standards of quality.
