Reported in City Of Rogue River Rogue River, Mar. 31 A re adjustment of property valua tions by the Rogue River tax equalization board and state and county tax officials has been ac complished in this community, it was reported this week by the group. The board, which includes Douglas Buckle, Howard Sowlcs, Fay Stiehl and Dave Gelvin, met Monday with C. A. Myers, coun ty assessor, and Harry Loggan, appraisal engineer for the state tax commission. They gathered to complete the task of equaliz ing valuations within the com munity. Arrangement Mad. Members reported that sat isfactory arrangement has been worked out which the committee feels will meet with the approv al of the majority of property owners. Logsan has supplied the com mittee with a map of all prop erties in the city, showing the new valuations for the coming year. Arrangements are being made whereby it will be avail able to property owners. Foot frontage values have been low ered in most parts of the city, which will result in lower land evaluations, the committee re ported, and some of the acreage tracts in the city have been in creased in value to achieve val uation. 'Wont' Cases Adjusted "A few of the 'worst' cases have been adjusted," it was re ported, and the plans which have been worked out will, it is be lieved, bring about a general re duction of valuations through out the city. Buckle called attention to the fact that any person who is dis satisfied with his new assessed property valuation may appear before the county board of equalization, .which meets for two weeks starting the second Monday in May at the court house. Cooperation Cited Equalization committeemen i say they have received "excel j lent cooperation" from Myers I and Loggan, a Mr. Hillman and A. A. Selander of the state tax commission, who have been ! working on the matter since it was first brought up several months ago. The subject of property as sessment came to public atten tion recently, when a mass meet ing of taxpayers from Rogue River, Gold Hill and Central Point met at the courthouse to protest appraisals which had been made. Formation of the committee followed, and a study of the entire tax picture in that area. , West Coast Lines Will Inaugurate Freight Shipments Seattle, Wash., Mar. 31 ttl.R) The 22 communities served by West Coast airlines will be able to make direct air freight ship ments to all parts of the world beginning June 1, General Traf fic and Sales Manager Robert England said today.
