By Susla Miyashita United Press Correspondent Tokyo, Mar. 8 (U.R) Every body in Japan knows that one thing, and one only, aeicrmiiies the sex of a child. Anako-San, a plump, successful Tokyo mid wife, insisted todav. She brushed aside the idea of predicting the sex of an unborn infant by the look in its mother's left eye, or by the reaction of rabbits or rats to certain tests Just Nonieni "Nonsense, all nonsense," the licensed midwife said in a tone of voice allowing no argument. "The sex of the child is deter mined bv the first visitor to enter the home after the child is conceived." "If it's a male visitor, the baby will be a boy. If it s a woman a girl." Anako-San is riding the crest of a booming birth rate that brought more than 2.500,000 new Japanese into the world last year. For her share of them she got about $5 a delivery. Her only advice on pirtn con trol is a warning to prospective mothers not to cat double rad ishes a certain way to bring on twins. She said, if a pregnant woman eats rabbit she will give birth to a baby with a hairlip. "And she should not eat per simmons," the old woman said, Boy Scout News Troop 9 Boy scout Troop 9 at a Moiv day session made plans for a sport meet with Troop 7 at the Methodist church today at 7:30 p.m. The youths also planned a hike to the Camporee site on Saturday. The hike will be a one-day affair for second class tests. "unless she wants to have a rot ten child." Can Eat Sea Food On general principles, Anako San said, pregnant women should ' t t .1 . n,nttaA IIUl tCll llMJUb Ul iUUI-lCfibVU animals. Sea food is all right, but not clams before birth and not crabs afterward. "If an expectant mother eats a clam, the child will stick out his tongue," she explained. "A crab eaten after birth will turn into worms in your stomach." Asked if her first-visitor theory had proved 100 per cent accu rate, Anako-San did not hesitate. It had, she said. "But what happens if the first visitor is a man and the child is a girl?" "Obviously," she said, "the man was not the first visitor." Lewis And Clark College Approved Salem. Ore..
