Local and Personal Obituary Club To Meet Wednesday Study club will meet March 1 at 2 p.m. in the Girls Community club. Aihland Commandery Malta Commandery No. 4 will meet in stated convocation tomorrow at 8 p.m. at the Masonic hall in Ashland. Youth Held Police said that a 14-year-old boy was jailed last night on a burglary charge after an employee at Lauren parts. 3i East Sixth street, caught him as he was leaving the building. It is announced that the carnival, to be given Sat urday, will be discussed during the meeting. 9 Car Damaged A fender and rear wheel of a coupe operated by Edith Lyle Miller, 812 Broad street, were damaged in an acci dent at Jackson street and Cen tral avenue about noon yester day, according to city police. The car was involved in a collision with a truck driven by Melvin O. Wright, Jacksonville highway. Initiated Kenneth Boshears, freshman at Oregon state college, has been initiated into Phi Eta Sigma, scholastic honor society for freshmen. Young Boshears, son of Mr. and Mrs. Miner T. Bo shears, 408 South Grape street, was graduated last year from Medford high school as valedic torian of his class and is major ing in pharmacy at OSC. Light Operating The over head traftic signal light at River side avenue and Jackson street went into operation yesterday alternoon, city officials said. The light at Jackson street and Cen tral avenue began functioning Friday but walk-wait lights at the two intersections have not been installed because the wrong type of brackets were shipped here. Guards temporarily have been left off the overhead lights so that pedestrians may use them. To Play About 70 accordion pupils of Mrs. Eve Prentice of Medford will play at an Ashland junior high school assembly Thursday at 10:45 a.m. The play ers are asked to meet at the Prentice studio at 9 a.m. wearing their uniforms, Mrs. Prentice states. Pupils from several junior and senior high schools of the valley will be playing, Mrs. Pren tice states, including 10 from the Ashland school where the pro gram will be given. Improving Robert F. Inilorf Rillin Winchester. 41 Wallace, Ida., was jailed by city police last night on a cnarge ui driving a motor vehicle while under the influence of intoxicat ing liquor. Arresting officers said the vehicle he was operating was traveling from one side of South Riverside avenue to the other as it hnaHpri north. Police were tipped from Phoenix that the car was approaching Alcaiora. Livestock Fifth Police Training Class Here Tomorrow The regional police training program in Medford sponsored by the Oregon Association of City Police Officers and the Ore gon State Sheriffs' association in cooperation with the local de partment will have its fifth class Wednesday. This class will initiate a 15 hour project involving the hand ling of a practical problem in burglary from the initial investi gation through final court ac tion. Instructors at the Medford school will be a two-man team consisting of Max Taylor of the federal bureau of investigation and Lt. Paul E. Morgan, de partment of state police. Local court officials and attorneys will assist in conducting the court proceedings Subsequent sessions of the pro ject will be held on March 6, 8. 13 and 15. CHRISTIAN BAIER Christian Joseph Baler. Med ford, passed away at a local hos pital Monday. Mr. Baier was born at Dubuque, la., on Octo ber 9, 1864, and was aged 86 years. He moved to the Rogue river valley in 1942, shortly after his wife passed away. He was a farmer bv occupation and was a member of the Farley Masonic lodge in Dubuque.
