4 FOUB MEDFORD (OREGON) Powell-Brugman Wedding Is Held At Catholic Church The wedding of Muss Mary s Frances Brugman to W, Evans Powell, Portland, was an event ol Saturday, February 11, at Sa . oi ed Heart Catholic church, with ' the Rev. Cornelius Linehan read ing the ceremony at 2 o'clock in the afternoon. The bride is a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John J. Brugman. Old Stage road, and Mr. Powell's parents were the late Mr. and Mrs. Walter E. Pow ell of Kansas City. Mo. The altar and pews of the church were decorated with v white snapdragons and laurestin ' us In heavy bloom. Bruno Pel legrini was organist. The bride, escorted to the altar ' by her father, wore a wedding ' gown of white satin designed ; princess style and with a lace yoke trimmed in seed pearls, i Her veil was fingertip length and she carried a prayerbook ' with white carnations and gar denias. Mrs. John W. Brugman of Portland was matron-of-honor . for her sister-in-law. Her bouf-'- fanl type gown was of chain ; pagne nylon net over taffeta worn with a sleeveless jacket of shirred nylon net edged in satin. Bridesmaids were Miss Betty Brugman, sister of the bride, and Miss Eileen Brugman of Port land, a cousin of the bride, iney wore frocks of soft gray-green designed the same as that of the mntrnn-of-honor. All three at tendants carried large bouquets of Wodgcwood ins wltn mines of orchid colored maline and rib bons of lavender, orchid and purple shades. John Carney Jr. of Portland was best man for the bridegroom and ushers were Dr. Charles Gerard, Edward G. Mcaney and John W. Brugman, brother of the bride. All are from Portland. The reception which followed was at the Rogue Valley Country club. Mrs. Herman McCullough of Mcdford cut the wedding cake and pouring were Mrs. Edward G. Meaney and Mrs. William J. Brugman of Portland and Mrs. Joseph C. Brugman of Seattle. Miss Pat Wilkinson and Mrs. Helen O'Neill served punch and Miss Mildred Cowan took charge of the guest book. The bride's table was centered with an arrangement of white snapdragons, carnations and pa per white narcissus with maiden hair fern, and the coke decora tions matched the bride's bou quet. Backets of white blossoms were placed around the club dining room. In Mcdford for the wedding were Mr. and Mrs. William J. Brugman of Portland, Dr. and Mrs. Joseph C. Bugman of Se attle, Dr. R. Barry Brugman of Seattle, Mr. and Mrs. Paul Ar mour of Seattle. Mr. and Mrs. Owen Johnson of Menlo Park, Cal.; Mr. and Mrs. Donald Bra dy of Coos Bay, Ore.: Mr. and Mrs. Francis W. Brugman of Portland and Mrs. James Crowell of Portland. The ncwlywcd coiiplo went to Lincoln Beach on the Oregon coast for their honeymoon and will be at home In Portland. Bridal Shower Honors Miss Barbara Powell; March Rites Planned Phoenix A bridal shower for Miss Barbara Powell was held February 14 at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Neil Wright In Phoenix. Miss Powell is to become the bride of Birch Scrlvner March 5. The nuptials will be held at the Community Bible Church in Cen tral Point. Thirty-four guests were pres ent at the shower. Refreshments were served by the hostess, as sisted by her sister, Mrs. Elmer Coffman. Lady Elks To Meet Lady Elks will meet Tuesday. Miss Brugman and Mr. Powell were married February 11 at Sacred Hoart Catholic church, with 125 guests attending, and the reception followed at the Rogue Valley Country club. Mr. Powell and hit bride will live in Portland. Medford Couple Holds Open House On 25th Anniversary Mr. and Mrs. Horschell Mor ris observed their 25th wedding anniversary February 12 witli an informal open house at the fam ily home. 516 Belmont avenue. Allen, Jacksonvillc-I'hocnix highway. The bride-elect, a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. C. S. Shepherd, Jacksonville, is a member of the 1050 graduating class of Jack sonville high school. Her fiance, son of Mrs. Serena McMnhon, 007 South Central avenue. Med ford is employed by Kogap Lum ber company. Their wedding date is set for June 23. From Eugene comes an nouncement of the engagement of Miss Phyllis Mathews, daugh ter of Mrs. Austin Mathews, to Richard Sellers Cottingham. son of Mr. and Mrs. Gerald Allen Cottingham, 1329 Queen Anne street. Both young people are stu dents at University of Oregon where Miss Mathews is a major in psychology and a member of Zcta Tau Alpha sorority, as well as executive treasurer of Pan-llellonie council. She is a great-granddaughter of Corne lius Austin, pioneer editor of the small newspaper which later be came the OregoniHii. Mr. Cottingham is an indus trial management major at the university. A wedding date has not been set. Concert Date Set By Music Society Medford Musical society has announced March H as the dale for the concert of Bombard Abramowitsch, San Francisco, eminent concert pianist. The con cert will be held in the high school auditorium and musicians of the valley are looking forward to the return of this artist who has appeared before the society a number of times in the past few years. Tickets are on sale at Puruck er's Piano house and Pruitt's Music center, or may be obtained from any member of the society. The society announces the con cert has a two-fold purpose. To present a great artist to the com munity and add to the scholar ship fund which is used each season to assist a talented young musician of Medford in further ing an education in music. The ceremony took place at 2:30 o'clock and was performed bv the Rev. L. H. Camp of the Church of Christ, Central Point. The bride was given in marriage by her father and Miss Tresa McMannis accompanied bv Mrs. Ernest Conrad, furnished the wedding music. The bride wore a beige suit with pink and dark blue acces sories. She carried white roses and bouvardia on a white Bible. Her matron of honor, Mrs. Dale Hartley, also wore a beige suit and her accessories were blue and black. Mrs. Bartley's flowers were sweet peas in a colonial bouquet. Attendants for the bride were Mrs. Melvin An horn and Miss Helcnc Blumen stein. Mrs. Anhorn's suit was blue and Miss Blumenslcin's grey., Their corsages were of yellow daffodils. Dale Bartley, Valentine, Neb., acted as best man for the bride groom and Dale Childress and Archie Q u a c k c n b u s h were ushers. The bride's mother wore a blue dress with blue and white accessories and her corsage was of while carnations. Mrs. O. Auxiliary Announces Meeting On Wednesday The Mcdford American Legion auxiliary will meet at the Med ford armory Wednesday, Febru ary 22, at 8 p. m for its regular monthly sewing session, accord ing to Mrs. Clark Walker, unit president. The meeting was pre viously scheduled to bo held at the home of Mrs. Walker. The Legion will provide refreshments after the sewing meeting. Anniversary Mr. and Mrs. L. W. Mich aelis of Portland were married February 3 at an evening cere mony at the First Baptist church here. The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs, C. Z. Boyden, 807 East Jackson street and the bridegroom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence C. Michaelis of Portland. The Rev. Wolford A. Dawes officiated for the double-ring ceremony and Mr. Boyden gave his daughter in marriage. About 100 guests were present. Baskets of white and pink snapdragons and pink carna tions, arranged with candelabra holding white tapers, formed a setting for the wedding party. The bride wore a gown of ivory satin with fitted bodice and full skirt falling into a long train. Tiny bows with sprigs of llly-of-the-vallcy trimmed the skirt and train. The bride's fin ger-tip length veil was held by a starched lace cap and she car ried a white Bible, a gift of the bridegroom, and tiny pink rose buds with a shower of white bouvardia. Miss Lillian Lynum of San Jose, Cal., was niaid-of-honor. She wore a rose colored taffeta gown with white lace gloves and carried a blue net tan ciecoraiea with white carnations. Her head dress was a half-halo of the same flowers. For her daughter's wedding Mrs. Boyden wore a dress of mauve crepe with small grey hat and her corsage was of pur ple violets and white bouvardia. For traveling the bride wore a cinnamon colored gabar dine suit with matching hat and chocolate brown accessories. Her corsage was of pinocchio rose buds. Dance Announced Scottish Rite Women's club has planned a dance for February 25 at the Masonic temple in Med ford. The event will be for all Scottish Rite bodies. Cards will be played, begin ning at 8 p.m. and dancing is set for 9 p.m. Mrs. I. D. Canfield is general chairman for dance plans and Mrs. Winnifred Regan is presi dent of the club Club to Meet Mrs. Wallace Brill will enter tain the Oak Grove Neighbor hood club at her home on Lozier lane, Tuesday, February 21, at 1:30 p. m. MAIN California Girl Wed To Donald Waldron In Home 'Ceremony Of interest in Medford is news of the recent wedding of Donald Waldron, son of Mr. and Mrs Elton Waldren, 630 South Holly street, to Miss Jeanette Vander mark of McCloud, Cal. The wedding, an evening event February 4, was held at the home of the bride's parents Mr. and Mrs. Russel Vander' mark. Before a background of potted plants and flowers, the ceremony was performed bv Judge Gerald Shannon, in the presence of about 35 relatives and friends. Miss Melva Sted man played the wedding music The bride, given in marriage by her father, wore a grey plaid frock of wool. Her corsage was white camellias and bouvardia. Miss Lorraine Klopp, maid-of-honor, wore a green wool frock and Miss Alice Baldini. in dark grey, was bridesmaid. Both wore corsages of dark red carnations. William DcGroot was the bridegroom's best man. During the reception which followed the ceremony, the bride groom's mother assisted in serv ing the wedding cake which centered the table, flanked on each side with arrangements of white stock and greenery. Mr. and Mrs. Waldron will make their home in Mount Shasta where the groom is em ployed. The bride received her educa tion in the schools of California and the bridegroom, a Medford high school graduate and athlete, attended Willamette university. Zuleima Temple Plans Special Ceremonial In Ashland Saturday A special ceremonial has been planned by Zuleima temple, Daughters, of the Nile, for Sat urday, February 25, in the Ash land Elks temple. The ceremonial is set for 2 p. m. and will be followed by a banquet at 7 p. m. Dancing will close the evening. The ban quet and dance are for members and their escorts and candidates will be guests. A very large class of candidates is to be initiated during the ceremonies, and they are asked to meet at the Lithia hotel not later than 1 p. m. Return Mr. and Mrs. H. G. Dowson. 47 South Berkeley way. returned the first of this week from San Francisco where Mr. Dowson at tended a lumber meeting in the Palace hotel. While there, the Dowsons attended the play, "The Philadelphia Story." The couple made the trip by United Air lines, and were guests at the St. Francis hotel.
