CLUBS Episcopal Guild To Give Dinner Tuesday Evening Members of St. Mark's Eve ning guild of the Episcopal church have planned a valentine dinner party to be held in the parish house Tuesday, February 14 at 7 p.m. Husbands of guild members will be honored guests. Mrs. Richard Watson is gen eral chairman and serving on the tables and decorations com' mittee are 'Mrs. Norman Hand, chairman, Mrs. Dave Brainerd and Mrs. Hal Hartzell. Mrs. Don Kent is chairman of the food committee, with Mrs. Ed Barnett assisting. Mrs. Robert R. Wilcox, Mrs. Mel Thurston and Mrs. Rob ert Newland make up the tele phone committee and on the serving committee are miss Ann Drysdale and Mrs. Laurence Butler. Mrs. W. A. Scoville. and Mrs. Georee Lewis make up the host ess committee and Mrs. Gordon Hudson is in charge of tickets, The guild recently held elec- tion of officers, naming Mrs. Ralph B. Matthews as president and Miss Drysdale as vice-president. Mrs. Robert D. Dames is secretary and Mrs. Hudson treasurer. Standing committees for the year have been named. Mrs. Fred Carr is chairman of the member- shiD committee. with Mrs, George R. Bolster and Mrs. John G. Crawford assisting her. Mrs. Scoville is chairman of 'the house committee and Mrs. Dames of the publicity committee. Miss Drysdale is social committee chairman, and Mrs. N. D. Glad felter heads the united thank offering committee. On the telephone committee are Mrs. Brainerd, chairman, ana Mrs. Charles X. Heffner and Mrs. Berwick Wood 'is chairman of the oroeram and project com mittee, with Mrs. Hartzell assisting. Members Hear Reports At Last Unit Meeting Medford Parent's' Extension unit held a business meeting February 7, with Mrs. Claude Miles in charge in the absence of Mrs. Nick DeWitt. Reports of the better dress school were read, and the unit survey was reviewed. Members contributed to a fund to be used to send a dele gate to Denmark for the con vention of me Associated coun try Women of the World in September. An interesting demonstration on lamp shade making was given Dy Mrs. uiauae nines ana ivirs Carl Kleiver. Refreshments were served with table decorations in the valentine theme. Newly Formed Group Holds First Meeting First regular meeting of the newly organized "Work-A-Way" club was held February 9 in the home of Mrs. Ben Musick, B17 North Holly street. The hostess presided at the business meeting and members voted to meet each two weeKS rather than once a month. A potluck luncheon was served and members quilted during the afternoon. Mrs. J. W. Parker was a visitor and members present were Mrs. Othar Richey, Mrs. Frank Rlch ey, Mrs. Glenn Bowles and Mrs. Ben Musick. Next meeting of the group will be in the home of Mrs. Frank Richey, 420 Western avenue, February 23 and will be an after noon meeting only. ECTION MUSIC 52nd Anniversary To Be Observed By Gold Hill Group Gold Hill The 52nd anni versary of Amethyst Rebekah lodge will be observed at the meeting of the order set for Wednesday, February 15. Mrs. Frank Carter, chairman of the good of the order committee, is planning special entertainment for the evening. , Valentines will be sent to those who have been members for many years. Mrs. Daniel H. Stewart is re freshments chairman for the meeting Wednesday, and will be assisted by Mesdames Palmer, Bailey and Newnham. Mrs. Earl F. Moore will do the table dec orations. Women on the com mittees are asked to bring home made cakes. Attendance count at the last meeting showed 14 members present on one team, and only 11 on the other and the win ners in the attendance contest will be treated to a "pay-off" dinner to be held jointly with members of the IOOF, holding a similar contest. Plans were made for serving refreshments for both meetings each month and a nickel fee will be collected from each member to defray expenses for the first meeting of each month. Junior Students 1 Present Recital Sunday At Church Junior students of Mrs. Kath ryn Diepenbrock, music teach er, were presented in a recital Sunday afternoon at the Latter Day Saints' church. An appre ciative audience of parents and friends attended the recital. Many of the pupils were mak ing their first public appearance as musicians. Phyllis Brooks and Sandra Sawyers, accompanied by the Little Orchestra, opened the pro gram with "March" by Haupt and Phyllis Brooks then gave two solo numbers. Jerelyn Smith then played two numbers, also accompanied by the orchestra, and June Attridge gave two numbers. , Also on the program were Sandra Sawyers, Jean Klatt, who played both solo numbers and a duet with Mrs. Diepen brock, Lemar Walker, Shirley and Clea Walker. Jerelyn Smith also played a duet with Mrs. Diepenbrock. Linda Luman was accompan ist for some of the numbers. lady lions, Firemen Hold Potluck Dinner; Acting Chief Speaks Medford Lady Lions and city firemen enjoyed a potluck dinner at the fire hall Tuesday of last week. Assistant Fire Chief Ed Ca- noose introduced the new acting chief, Leo Wiedner, who gave a brief talk on his plans to survey the city and the needs of the fire department. The retired chief, Roy Elliott, was a guest for the event. After a short business meeting the remainder of the evening was spent with games, with Mrs. James Campbell taking charge. Prizes were awarded to winners. Two tables made by the fire men were awarded to Mrs. Glenn Linn and Mrs. L. J. Cox. Hostesses for the evening were Mrs. Keith Bates. Mrs. Sara Redden. Mrs. Dollie Love and Mrs. Clara Rogers were named to the finance com mittee for the term. The charter was draped In memory of Mrs. Nelle Spence, who recently passed away. Mrs. Spence had been a member of the lodge since May of 1938. Mrs. Harrv Bryant, noble grand, gave a brief memorial talk, extending sympathy to those who mourn ed Mrs. Spence's death. Medford Extension Unit Holds February Meeting Medford Home Extension unit members met Wednesday with a good attendance and seven visi tors present. Roll call was an swered with items on life of Abraham Lincoln and St. Valen tine's day. Mrs. N. J. Sigler demonstrat ed lamp shade makg assisted bv Mrs. W. R. Christleif and Mrs. Ben Wells of Griffin Creek Extension unit. Mrs. John Pletsch gave an outline of points of interest in the dressmaking classes recently completed. Luncheon was served by Mrs. Roland Beach, Mrs. Lei and Knox, Mrs. Ethel Hartel, Mrs. Marie Hansen and Mrs. William Milnes, Table decorations were in the valentine theme. Mrs. Ross Adams won a prize and the meeting closed with singing of the extension song. Next month's demonstraiton will be glove making. Founder Honored By Medford Union Members of the Women's Christian Temperance union in Medford honored the founder, Frances Willnrd, at a meeting of the group Thursday afternoon in the Girls Community club. Mrs. G. O. Sanden was program chairman. Mrs. Pauline McDonald pre sented the life of the founder, beginning with childhood and carrying the story through to her death. Mrs. Jewell Parr of Phoenix gave devotionals. Mrs. William McAllister sang, with Mrs. Henry Huenergardt as accompanist. Mrs. Sherman L. Divine spoke of the Union Signal, explaining in detail the different depart ments of the official paper. A number of pupils of Mrs. Eve Prentice presented a pro gram of music, with Miss Joan Anderson as soloist and Miss Carol Davis as accompanist. Others taking part were Nancy Ann Town, Donna Lee Mnllans, Gerald Mallans and Sandra Burston. Visitors included Mrs. E.
