Local and Mayor Vacation! Mayor and Mrs. Diamond Flynn left this week on a vacation trip to Ari zona. They will be gone about two weeks. On Business Iral Stewart, Portsmouth, O., representing Cantilever shoes, was a business caller at the Lantis - Johnson tore yestertay. Returned Lee Allen, Hub bard Brothers hardware, re turned Wednesday evening by plane from San Francisco where he had been on business. Firemen's Ball The Central Point volunteer firemen's ball will begin at 9 p.m.. Saturday, February 11. The bail is being held in the Central Point Grange hall. In Portland Mr. and Mrs. Al ton M. "Andy" Anderson, and children Duke and Jerry, 709 Beekman avenue, are in Port land this week on a combined business and pleasure trip. On Okinawa Word has been received by Mrs. Boyd Harlow, 616 Franquette avenue, of the transfer of her son, Pfc. Elmer C. "Pinky" Bryans, to Okinawa, from Ft. Francis E. Warren, Cheyenne, Wyo. Visiting Here Mrs. W. E. Krueger, Sacramento, arrived Wednesday to visit with her son and daughter-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. H. W. Krueger, and chil dren Ginny and Kurt, 505 Ed wards street. In San Francisco Mr. and Mrs. J. W. Barnard are in San Francisco this week while Barn ard is attending market week there for Barnard's Floor cover ings. They expect to return Sat urday. Lenox, 2322 East Main street, are in Roseburg be cause of the illness of Miss Len ox' mother. Elbert L. and Ray Lenox expect to visit their mother over the week-end. Schulz, chairman of memorial flower fund for the domiciliary center, to attend the funeral for George Britton who passed away Wednesday at the center. Jailed City police said they jailed Arthur Rafael Corbin, 26, Applegate, last night after he allegedly forced his way into Community hospital to see a patient after visiting hours and refused to leave. A disorderly conduct charge was filed, police stated. 9 Man Missing Ted Thompson, Central Point, reported to Med ford city police that his nephew, Rowland W. Dalberg, 32, has been missing since Wednesday. He stated that Dalberg is five feet six inches tall, weighs 170 Counds and has brown hair and lue eyes. He was said to be wearing a brown coat and gray suit and to be driving a 1947 Ply mouth coupe. Leader Here Mrs. Melvin Leonard, Klamath Falls, leader in the democratic party in Ore gon and state vice-chairman of the central committee for the party, visited in Medford yester day with Mrs. E. C. Kelly, chair man of the Jackson county de mocratic central committee. Mrs. Leonard continued to Los Angeles, Cal., by plane, where she will join her husband. Collision Reported Police re ported slight damage resulting from a collision involving a freight truck and sedan at Front and Main streets about 6:50 a.m. today. Thev said that Garland Eugene Algea, Monrovia, Cal., was operator of the Los Angeles Seattle Freight lines vehicle, and Charles Clyde Kceney, 2210 Bar nclt road, was driver of the sedan. Bielby, a resident of Rogue River for the past 15 years, passed away at a local hos pital Wednesday. Mr. Bielby was born at Independence, la., March 28, 1870. He is survived by his wife, Anna, Missoula, Mont.: one son, Robert; two daughters, Lena Richardson, Missoula, and Hilda Blakely, Jocko, Mont., and six grandchildren. Other survivors include Mrs. Grace Guldin, Fort Dodge, la.: Mrs. Grace Milton and Mrs. Mattie Smith, Rogue River; Howard Snow, Logan, Mont., and Walter Snow, Van couver, Wn. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday In the Hope Presbyterian church, Rogue Riv er, with Rev. Barnette officiat ing. Interment will be in the Woodville cemetery, Rogue Riv er. He was united in marriage Jan. 22, 1901, in Bag ley, Minn., to Marie Larson, who survives. He was a member of the Zion Lutheran church. Surviving, besides his widow, arc two sons. W, C, Medford; M. L Minneapolis, Minn.; a daugh ter, Mrs. Hazel Keenan, Central Point; two brothers, Carl and Tom, both of Canada; three sis ters in Canada; five grandchil dren and one great-grandchild. LAUREN VAN HORN 1 Services for Lauren H. Van Horn, 89, Gold Hill, who passed away in a local hospital Thurs day, will be held in Conger-Morris chapel Saturday at 2:30 p. m. with the Rev, L. D. Stiles. Gold Hill, officiating. Interment will be in Rock Point cemetery. Mr. Van Horn was born April 15, I860; in Wichita Falls, Tex and came to Jacksonville in the late 1800s, where he operated the Sylvania mine for several years. He moved to Gold Hill 10 years ago. He was united In marriage March 17, 1917, in San Fran cisco to Florence Watts, who survives. Surviving, besides- his widow, are two sons. F.bruiry 10, 1150 Bergman Film Not To Be Shown In Medford The Italian film "Stromboll," directed by Roberto Rossellinl and starring Ingrid Bergman, has not been booked to show In Medford, members of the Med ford Ministerial association were informed yesterday by Matt Freed, manager of the Robert L. Lippert theaters In southern Oregon and northern California. The association requested Freed to meet with them in re gard to the showing of the film, which has been banned in vari ous other cities across the na tion. The theater man said that his bookings have been complet ed up to April 1, and that the disputed film has not been scheduled. Objections in other cities have not been motivated by the film itself, but by what has been cn lied "brazen defiance of pub lic decency and marital fidelity" on the part of Miss Bergman. The lessons are open to all registered members, and Mrs. Davies said the instruction will be an excellent "refresher" course for other dancers. Mem bers who wish to bring guests may do so by obtaining a guest card good for one attendance, Mrs. Davies recommended that inexperienced dancers come to the first class, and that those with additional experience at tend later sessions.
