True, the Cavemen with their

put two teams on the floor of
relatively equal ability won the
Southern Oregon conference and

Eagles held a 11 to 9 first quar

Grants Pass came through
with several fast break plays in
the last two quarters and out
jumped the tiring Eagles to
pound in many more rebounds
that in the first half to bring
out a victory by a somewhat

The first half truly worried
the famed coaching staff from
Grants Pass as well as the Cave

times gelling renouiiun u i

Eagle Point, sporting new
basketball uniforms of yellow
with dark blue numbering and
lettering, got off to a good start
by building up a io s w
the first six minutes before
Grants Pass started to find the
range and almost catch up with
the scoring.
Long Shots Count
The Cavemen also showed
good ability to sink baskets from
outside the "key" as well as use
their taller and heavier players
to push in rebounds off the back
boards. . . . .
The middle two quarters told
the story for Cavemen victory
s they outscored Eagle Point
11 to 8 In the second quarter and

Eagles outscored Grants 11 to

Pat Ford was the big gun In
the Grants Pass attack in the last
half in particular as his eight
points early in the third quarter
seemed to help take the heart
out of the Eagles' offense.
Pat Simmons and Lloyd Hale
not only were high point men
for the Eagles but also sparked
them most of the game. Sim
