TWO MEDrOHP (OREGON) MAIL TRIBUNE Tuesday, February 7, 1950 Roxy Ann Amaranth Court To Be Instituted Saturday A new court of Royal Order of the Amaranth will be Instituted In Medford Saturday, February 11, with ceremonies to be held in the Medford Masonic temple beginning at 6 p.m. The new court will be named Itoxy Ann court and will serve the entire Rogue valley The nearest courts of this Masonic order are at Roseburg and Klamath Falls. Charter members will be in itiated and officer placed during the ceremonies which will be conducted by Mrs. Edna F. Man ning, Salem, grand royal matron; Earl S. Beoson, grand royal pa tron; Mrs. Frances E. Hurlburt, Portland, grand royal secretary and other officers of the grand court. Elected officers of the new court are Mrs. L. G. Frink, royal matron: Glenn L. Linn, royal pa tron; Mrs. Lcta Queen, associate royal matron; Ira D. Canfield, associate royal patron; Vernon Turpln, treasurer; Mrs. I. D. Canfield, secretary; Mrs. Elton Waldron, conductress; Mrs. Linn, associate conductress; Edward Root, Charles F. Hoppe and Fur min Evcrnham, trustees. Meeting Thursday Howard Extension unit will meet at the home of Mrs. Pat ten, Bcall lane, February 9 at 10:30 a.m. Making of lampshades will be demonstrated by Mrs. Christenscn and Mrs. Rogers. Past Presidents City PTA Council Honored At Tea Medford Cltv Council of Par ents and Teachers honored past presidents at the annual Found ers' day silver tea held Thursday afternoon in the Lincoln gymna sium. The Lincoln PTA unit members were hostesses. Seven past presidents were present, and each was given a corsage. They are Mrs. G, Q. D Albini, Mrs. Minnie Bryani, Mrs. Bernice Kunzman, Mrs. Harry Olsen, Mrs. A. E. Brock- way, Mrs. w. K. uiass ana Mrs. Richard Payne. Mrs. James Barnard, hospital ity chairman, assisted the presi dent, Mis. John Carter, in pre senting the corsages. The tea ta ble was decorated in the Found ers' day theme with spring flow ers and candles in the PTA col ors of yellow and blue being used, General chairman for the tea was Mrs. L. E. Gustison, assisted by Mrs. Russell Wade. The refreshment committee was headed by Mrs. Daniel Bird, room mother chairman, and as sisting her where Mrs. Homer Pleyer and Mrs. Virgil Hose, as well as other members of the Lincoln executive board. Pouring were Mrs. Ben Greas er and Mrs. Frank Craig. A short business meeting was conducted by the president. Vincent P. Bevls, principal of Lincoln school, gave a spelling demonstration using pupils from Lincoln's fourth, fifth and sixth grades, this proving interesting to the audience. It was announced that Don A. Emerson of the Oregon state board of education would speak on "Trends in Modern Educa tion" Thursday, February 9 at 8 p.m. in the Roosevelt school gym nasium. At 2 p.m. Mrs. Henry Padg hom, vice-president of the city PTA council and chairman of the snclnl hygiene committee of the Jackson 'County Public Health association, introduced Dr. Ralph G. Eckert, psychiatric consultant for the California state board of education who spoke before 250 PTA members and others. Louisiana Judge Will Be Speaker For Dinner Group George W. Hardy Jr., Judge of the second circuit appellate court of the state of Louisiana, will ad dress members of the Rogue Val ley Knife and Fork club on Mon day. February 20. Widely known In the south west as a Jurist and as an elo quent platform speaker, Judge Hardy has long been active In the public life of his state. A former mayor of Shreveport, Judge Hardy was instrumental in bringing many needed re forms to the city during his ca reer in office and is said to be one of the few American lawyers who Is of public Interest outside his own trade territory, Shower Party Honors Eagle Point Woman Eagle Point Members of the Eagle High club met at the home of Mrs. Cletus Strickland re cently and honored Mrs. Mary Hascom at a shower. Job's Daughters Receive Visit From Grand Guardian Mrs. C. D. Elhart. Ashland, grand guardian of Job's Daugh ters for Oregon, paid an official visit to the Medfora rjetnoi wea nesday night. Also attending from Ashland were Andrew Stevens, grand inner guard for Oregon; Mrs. M. P. Dunn, a past guardian of the Ashland bethel Mrs. W. O. Yates and Mrs Mabel Rose, guardian council memhprs in Ashland: Miss Shir ley Damon, Ashland queen and Miss Chloe Stevens and Miss Kay Dudley, princesses. Initiation was held for six can didates, Sharon Holt, Janet .Inhnsnn. Jovce Williams. Sara Hart, Sandra Hubbard and Shir ley Lynch. During the ceremonies an ad rienrium was elven In Mrs. El hart's honor. The girls partici pating carried red candles and formed a heart while Miss D'Ann Beck sang. Mrs. Elhart was then presented a piece of silver. The evening closed with re freshments. Centcrine the re freshment table was a large red heart edged with paper lace and red candles were encircled with paper lace. Miss Kaye Crawford, queen of the bethel, presided over the ses sion. Additional guests included Mr. and Mrs. Fred Purdin, worthy matron and patron of Realties chapter of Eastern Star. Club Members To Hold Party In Eagle Point Eagle Point Nichols Branch Get-Together club members have planned a party for Saturday, February 11 at the home of Mrs. Gertrude Stanley. It Is set for 8 p.m. and there will be square dancing, games and refresh ments. The party will be for mem bers, their husbands and families. Miss Jackie Kirtley Enrolled In Ski School Miss Jackie Kirtlev. senior at Colorado Woman's college at Denver. Colo., is one of 200 stu dents of the school participating In the ski school at Winter Park. Colo., a release from Denver states. Miss Kirtley is a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. E. M. Kirtley, 621 Dakota avenue. Gold Hill Garden Club Tours Craft Department Of Domiciliary Center Gold Hill Gold Hill Garden club members motored to the Camp White domiciliary center Friday where a short business meeting was held in the Green room, followed by a tour of the arts and crafts department of the center. The members were much interested in the several kinds of crafts being done by the vet erans. Stone cutting and polish ing, weaving, leather work, woodwork, painting, pen and ink work, Jewelry and other types of the work were seen and admired. The members returned to the Green room and served veterans and other guests refreshments of home-made cookies. The center furnished coffee. About 20 veterans enjoyed re freshments with the club mem bers and several attended he short business meeting. Harry Teorey, arts and crafts director, conducted the tour through the department. John Kelly took pictures of the groups. Veterans present were George Parker, host for the afternoon; Larry Seamans, Lon Presnell, Olney Dart, E. E. Sibley, Frank lin Glrard. Bill Wallace, Mike Tanzell. Carol Skeets, Albert Jackson, Ben Anderson, William Wolfe, Frank Brittain, Joe Brachtl, John A. Lennie. Mrs. R. K. Palmer and Mrs. Millie Walker were also guests. Mrs. Palmer and Mrs. Stewart exhibited figurines that had been painted by women of the Hobby club. Next meetine will be Febru ary 3 at the home of Mrs. W. K. Bressel on highway 99 next to the Shontz Supply company. Plan Special Meeting Of Lake Creek Group A special meeting will be held by Lake Creek Extension unit February 16 at the Lake Creek Grange hall, beginning in the morning. Mrs. E. E. Meyer will take charge of the program which is to be on textile paint ing. Those attending are asked to bring materials and a sack lunch. Coffee will be served by the unit. Last regular meeting of the unit was held at the home ot Mrs. Nora Bradshaw. Phoenix Aid Society To Meet Wednesday Phoenix Phoenix Presby terian Ladies Aid society will meet at the church Wednesday, February 8 at 2 p.m. The pres ident asks that all members of the society and women of the church be present, since plans will discussed for the George Washington supper to be served February 24. Mrs. Blanche Frisbie, public health nurse, will be guest speak er and will report on the lecture on child psychology of Dr. Ralph G. Eckert given In Med ford last week. The general subject for discus sion will be youth authority. Phoenix Couple Home From Hawaii Mr. and Mrs. R. W. Frame of Phoenix have returned to their home after a month's vacation in Hawaii. The trip was made by the Matson liner, Lurline. I The Frames were delighted with the islands and report i weather conditions ideal for the greater part of their stay.
