Luncheon will be served at 12:30 p.m. and will be arranged by Mrs. George Rehart, chairman of the luncheon committee. All Sojourners are invited to attend and they are asked to make reservations early. Square Dance Series Sponsored By Masons To Continue Saturday The fourth in a series of square dances sponsored by Crater Lake chapter of the Royal Arch Ma sons will be held Saturday, Feb ruary 11, in the Masonic temple. This year's luncheon is set for February IS, Wednesday, in the Masonic tern pie, with Mrs. Fred Purdln as general chairman. Luncheon will be served at one o'clock and a style show will be given by Town and Country shop of Eagle Point, Reservations are - being re ceived by Mrs. Paul Rynning and Mrs. J. H. Woodford, and Mrs. Jack Caldwell is publicity chairman. Mrs. Jack Clark and Mrs. B. L. Sanderson are the ta ble committee, Mrs. John Smith and Mrs. V. A. Turpin will take charge of prizes and Mrs. Ira D. Canfleld and Mrs. Lynn iioDeri son the decorations. Mrs. W. H. Jones and Mrs. R. E. Schulz make up the dining room committee and Mrs. A. H. Gregory and Mrs. William Young the kitchen committee. Church Association Gives Annual Ball; Medford Girl Queen Miss Beverly Hogenson of Medford reigned as queen of the annual Gold and Green ball of the Latter Day Saints church held January 27 at the recrea tion hall of the church in Ash land. Miss Hoeenson. a high school student, Is a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Stanley Hogenson, 1913 Birch avenue. Attending her as princesses were Miss Faye Wilkins, Miss Sharon Wilde. Miss Rose Suth- erlin and Miss Nina Grantham, all of Medford, and their escorts were Clayton Peterson, Don Al len and Douglas Fcrnlund, Med ford, and Clifford Neilson and Ralph George, Ashland. Theme of the dance was Win ter Wonderland and Elder Nich ols of the church had painted figures of the story book ani mals, Bambi and Thumper, for the decorations. These were combined with snow scenes, evergreens and silver cutouts. Carrol White sang . "Winter Wonderland" as the queen came Into the hall, and songs were also given by Merle Walker and Clarence Zurcher. The formal ball is snonsorcd each year by the Mutual Im provement association of the church. This year Mrs. Douglas tihepncra is president of the women's division, and Dave Ho- gan of the men s division. Both are from Medford. The fireside groun of the church, headed by Miss Gran tham, took charge of decora tions. Miss Grantham was oueen of the ball last yean Refresh ments were served bv a commit tee, headed by Mrs. Roy Sander. The dance attracted a large number of church members and their friends. Mistletoe Club Plans Valentine Luncheon; To Aid Needy Family The regular meeting of Mistle toe club will be February 8i in the Girls' Community club.' A valentine luncheon will be served at 1:30 p.m. and there will bo a valentine party. Mr. Peek's parents, who for some time past have made their home here, have now returned to Portland to live. The bride groom is manager of the South ern Oregon Title company of Medford. Medford Lady Lions To Dine At Fire Hall Members of Medford Lady Lions' club will meet with city firemen Tuesday, February 7 at (1:30 a.m. nt the fire hall. A pot luck dinner will be served. Hostesses for the evening are Mrs. Kr-llh Bates, chairman, Mrs. Tom Klynn and Mrs. Noble Vincent. Each year women of the club and members of the fire depart nient cooncrate in the Christ mas toy project, and the two groups meet together from time to time. Evans Powell, is be ing honored at a number of pre nuptial parties. Miss Brugman's wedding to the Portland man is set for February 1 1 at Sacred Heart Catholic church, with the reception to follow at the Rogue Valley Country club. The bride-to-be is a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John J. Brugman, Old Stage road. Miss Brugman was honor guest at a bridal shower given Wednesday evening by Mrs. Dar rell Davis and Mrs. William E Davis at the former's home at 48 North Peach street. The evening was spent with bridge and canasta and spring flowers decorated the room Miss Brugman's gifts were pre sented to her from a large wish ing well. Refreshments were served. Rothermel-Stewart Wedding Rites Held In Portland Church Miss Jullc-Ann Stewart, daugh ter of Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Duke Stewart of Portland became the bride of Ralph D. Rothermel formerly of Medford and now of Orchards, Wash., in a ceremony held January 22 at the First United Presbyterian church in Portland. The bridegroom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Paul C. Rothermel, also formerly of Med ford and now of Orchards. The servico was read at two o'clock by Dr. William C. Fail cette, and the bride's father gave her in marriage. White snap dragons and white stock ar ranged with candelabra holding tapers decorated the church. Mrs. Paul Brownlee was solo ist, with Mrs. Sartain as accom panist. For her wedding the bride wore a gown of white georgette crepe designed with wide lace insertions extending the full length of the gown, puffed sleeves and a train. A coronet of pearls and orange blospoins held her fingertip length veil, and she carried a large white orchid on a white Bible. Miss Gwendolyn Fry of Salem, Ore., cousin of the bride, was maid-of-honor. She wore a gown of pale blue organdy trimmed in hlup satin and with a satin sash and her head covering was of yellow carnations. She carried a bouauet of daffodils and ferns. Miss Cathv Hall. Portland, was flower girl. Her gown was of pale green organay wun matching satin trim and sash and her flowers were a headpiece of yellow carnations and a nosegay of these same flowers. Richard Peters of Portland was best man for the bridegroom and ushers were Robert Getz Jr.. of Bremerton. Wash., and Theodore Enestrom of Olympia A reception was held at the home of the bride s parents and pour ing and assisting were Mrs. Theo dore Engstrom of Olympia, Mrs. Robert Goetz Jr.. of Bremerton, Mrs. Lloyd Fry of Grants Pass ana Mrs. Lamont try or oaiem. The bride, who was grad uated from Cleveland high school in Portland was recently employ ed by the Oregon-Nevada-California freight line. Mr. Rother mel, who attended high school here before the family moved north, is a station manager for Standard Stations, Inc. Anniversary Dinner For Clarence Wimers Event Of Saturday Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Wimer were honored guests at a cov ered dish dinner party given in observance ot their 29th wed ding anniversary. Mr. and Mrs. Frank Hussong were hosts for the dinner last Saturday at their home ,on South Barneburg road and Mrs. Earl Scripter assisted. The couple was presented a silver gift. Bridge was played and high prize was won by Mr. and Mrs. Jack Clark. Consola tion prize was received by Mr. and Mrs. Michael Beck and the traveling prize went to Mr. Beck. Main Medford Lady Elks To Honor Visitors Saturday Afternoon Lady Elks of Medford will be hostesses for a tea planned for Saturday, February 11 in the party lounge of the Elks temple. The party is set for 2 p. m. and guests will be Lady Elks of Ash land and visiting Lady Elks whose husbands will be attend ing the mid-winter session of the Oregon State Elks association to be held that day In Ashland. The event was planned for January but was postponed when the mid-winter meeting of the lodge could not be held because of weather conditions. Following the tea, bridge, pi nochle, canasta and other games will be played. All Lady Elks are Invited to attend. Har rison, was an event'of February 1 in the Sunshine parlor of the First Methodist church. The bridegroom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Ray Harrison, 719 West Fourth street. The Rev. Meredith A. Groves officiated at the service, read in the presence of a few close friends and members of the two families. Given In marriage by her fath er, the bride wore a gold col ored suit with corsage of while rosebuds. Her attendant, Miss Dorothy Hawkins, wore grey. Carl Burk was best man. After a short wedding trip the couple will live in Medford. The bride was graduated from Medford high school with the class of 1949. Mr. Harrison was graduated in 1946, and is in bus iness with his father in Phoenix. Newlywed Couple Leaves For Denver Mr. and Mrs. Melvin E. Min ger, whore marriage was an event of January 14, in Grants Pass, left Medford last week to moke their home in Denver,, Colo.
