Medford senior high's cagers
travel to Roseburg for a non
conference clash with the Indians
at 8:15 p.m. Friday and both
teams are slated to play each
other on the Black Tornado's
floor at the same time Saturday
evening.
Coach Frank Roelandt has
been working his team out each
morning this week in prepara
tion for the games with drills
held then instead of late in the
afternoon because of school be
ing out. Teachers are correcting
examination papers this week.
The local coach said his boys
looked pretty good for the first
few minutes of the game against
Central Point last week but then
for some unexplainable reason
had more than a little difficulty
in hitting the basket for points.
Medford won the conference
game 31-25.
Chances are that the usual
lineup of Connie Holzgang and
Jack Morris at guards, Don Den
man or Don Wilkinson at center
and Bob Shores and Larue Smith
at forwards will start.

"We score an average of 65
points per game in this league,"
he said. "And brother, that's a
lot."
Hamilton found that Canadian
players had "more stamina" than
their American counterparts.
"These Canadian kids," he
said, - "are tall, big, and fast.
And where Canadian basketball
players have had the proper
training, they're every bit as
good as those in the States."
Hamilton believed that In the
past, Canadians had not been
getting the training received by
American basketball players
"but they're getting it now, and
they're coming along."

up very well asalnst the pros,

11 per game so far.

Hale dropped to 11th In the race
as he has 32 in four games for
an eight average.

Bob Buchanan, Albany high
school basketball coach, has re
signed, effective immediately.
Buchanan yesterday submit
ted his resignation to the Albany
school board. He explained:
"I feel the division of my time
between basketball coaching and
my work as head of the biology
department and Jurisdiction over

Ashland, Feb. 2 The Ashland
city council has scheduled a
meeting for 8 p.m. today with

rights. Ashland expects to re
ceive additional revenue if it
could control the Bellview area.
The council is also planning
meetings with Bonneville Power
administration officials to dis

eventually be brought into this
