Advenfist Churches Convention Opened A church officer's convention is being held today for Seventh Day Adventist churches of the Klamath Falls, Grants Pass and Medford districts, Pastor O. E. Schnepper of the local Adven tist church, Edwards and Beatty streets, said. President L. E. Biggs of the Oregon conference of S. D. A. leads in the work of the insti tute. Among the other speakers will be R. (T. Emery, the secretary-treasurer of the conference; Elder D. N. Reiner, head of the home mission and dorcas work and Elder A. J.'Reisig, secretary of the Young People's Mission ary Volunteer department. Elder G. E. Belleau, former pastor of the local church will represent the educational work of the church. The junior high department of the Bible school will direct the opening worship for the 9:45 a. 'm. Bible school hour on Janu ary 29. The youth will sit in a reserved section of the sanc tuary. The pastor, Rev. Holly Roy Jarvis, will speak on the theme, 'The Pilgrimage of Life." High School Group The high school department, under Bill Pruitl, president, will be in charge of evening worship. Young people who will take part are Bill Hust. Bill Pruitt, Nikky Smith, Roy Rogers, Bob Her shiscr and Dale Cooper. An evening fireside following the church hour, at the home of Miss Shirley Rice, 302 Van couver avenue, will conclude the day's activities. Wednesday Service A devotional vesper will be presented by the young people Wednesday, February 1, begin ning at 7:30 p.m. in the church. The following young people will take part: Claudia Cooper, Bar bara Cook, Dorothy Hershiser, Roila Jones and DcLores Smylie. The public is invited. A similar schedule will be followed Sunday, February 5, with young people assuming ma jor church responsibilities. Friday, January 27. 1950 MEDFORD (OREGON) MAIL TRIBUNE THREE First Presbyterian Church Youth Plan National Youth Week Activity Youth fellowship events Satur day and Sunday are planned by youth of the First Presbvterian church, the Rev. Harry Hansen, minister, said today. A gospel team from the First Presbyterian church, Berkeley, Cal., is expect ed for the conference. Included on the team are John Reynolds and Art Sueltz, seniors at the University of California, who spent the summer of 1949 assisting in the youth program of the local church. Roieburg Youth Invited These meetings are planned the celebration of National Youth week, January 29 to Feb ruary 5. Twenty-four young peo ple and their director, Miss Glo ria Wunsch, from Roseburg. will arrive in Medford Saturday noon. They will be guests of the Presbyterian young people for the week-end. Groups from the Presbyterian Church Of Nazarene Service Broadcast The 11 a.m. worship of the Medford Church of the Nazarene will be broadcast over Station KYJC. The pastor will speak on the High Priestly Prayer of Jesus. "Gospel Hour" will be present ed over station KMED from 9 to 9:30 a.m. Special attention will be given to the young people of the church in the evening evangelis tic service. The pastor will speak to youth on the subject, "Vertical Christians," and young people will have a prominent part in the service. Rev. Sammy Sparks of Ash land, Ky will assist the pastor. Rev. P. J. Bartram in a revival campaign beginning on Wednes day at 7:30 p.m. church, Phoenix, will join in a snow party in the Siskiyous Sat urday afternoon. A covered-dish fellowship sup per at 6 p. m. for the combined groups will be followed by a youth rally at 8 p. m, to which all young people are invited. The gospel team will have com plete charge of the program. A fireside "sing" will conclude the evening's program. Church Service! Set Sunday's church activities will start with a pre-prayer service at 9:30 a. m. At 9:45 the combined junior high and high school de partments, with their guests, will meet for Sunday school in the church sanctuary. The Rev. Mr. Hansen said the university gospel team will take over the 11 a. m. service and a choir of youth from Medford and Roseburg will share in the service. - A fellowship luncheon at 1 p. m. has been planned. Re ports and pictures of youth con ferences at Fir Point, Cannon Beach and Mount Hermon will bcBiven at 2 p. m. The conclud ing afternoon session will be in charge of the gospel team, and a snack served at 4:30 p. m. Supper Also Planned One of the older youth groups plans a fellowship supper at 6 p.m. as guests of Miss Adabee Seller, 1132 West Main street. Jan. 27 (U.R) The Portland city council today ordered the city attorney to draw up an ordinance changing effec tive date o daylight saving time for 1050 from April 23 to April 30. The council said airlines had with opening of daylight saving time in eastern states. If the new ordinance is ac cepted, Portland daylight sav ing time will begin at 2 a. in.
