Venezuela Hurler Leaves White Sox To Play In Mexico Mexico City, March 1 Alex Carrasquel, veteran Venezuelan pitcher purchased by the Chica go White Sox from the Washing ton Senators last month for $7, S00, announced today he has signed a three-year contract to play with Vera Cruz in the eight team Mexican league. Carrasquel said the salary was "much bigger" than the $5,000 offered him by the Sox. The 32 -year -old righthander won 51 games and lost 39 during his seven-year tenure with the Senators, and is the ninth Major leaguer to jump the south-of-the-border circuit. Negroes Welcomed At Brooklyn Camp Sanford, Fla., March 1 U.R) The Brooklyn Dodgers today welcomed shortstop Jackie Rob i inson and pitcher John White to ' training camp, the first negroes to receive a chance to play Ma jor league baseball. H., March 1 (U.R) Members of the Hawaii all-stars baseball team that is secheduled to meet the San Francisco Seals in a 15-game ex hibition series starting March 8 struck for a $300 flat guaran tee for each man today. They rejected an offer of $100 per player plus a "certain percentage" of the Honolulu stadium's share of 50 per cent of the gate after the first $40,000. Bishop Leaves For Spring Training At Florida Camp Site Sumas, Wash., March 1 (U.R) Gale Bishop, former all-Ameri-can cage star for Washington State college, says goodbye to basketball today and heads for Deland, Fla., to begin a profes sional baseball career with the Boston Braves. Bishop said he had been noti fied by telephone that he would sign with the National league team after checking in at the Florida training camp. Gault said that although the state law does not require registration of firearms, he has had numerous requests to start such a department. Any type of firearm may be registered but is not to be con fused with the registration law of the treasury department, Gault said. The sheriff said he believed the registration would be of benefit to the sheriff's office as well as an aid to gun owners In the event of stolen weapons.
