Tent Church Ready The new tent-house for use ol the chil dren's church at the Friends church, Merriman road and De Barr avenue, will be used for the first session today, according to the pastor, Milo C. Ross. Men of the church and community worked evenings and yesterday finishing the structure. On the children's church staff are the Mesdames Corn, Ross, Ditch, Grisham and Allen. Society To Meet An all-day meeting of the Women's society of Christian Service of the First Methodist church will be held Tuesday beginning at 11 a. m. Those attending are asked to bring a paper sack luncheon. An all-day program has been planned. Almost one-fourth of the popu lation of the United States lives on farms. Flu Fire A flue fire at the home of Harry Prentice, 517 South Newtown street, was ex tinguished at 12:43 p. m. yester day, city firemen reported. No damage was caused, firemen said. E Wharton, 1134 West Ninth street Return From Mexico Dr. and Mrs. Dwight H. Findley have re turned from a trip to Mazatlan Mexico, following Dr. Flndley's release from the service. While deep-sea fishing off Mazatlan Dr. Findley was fortunate in hooking and landing a 200-pound nine-foot blue marlin sword fish The fishing at this point in Mexico reaches its peak in March and the sword fish and marlin are not too prevalent in January, when Dr. and Mrs. Findley were there. However, the fishing was excellent this winter, with great numbers of toro and Spanish mackerel being caught on light tackle, the doctor reports. These were from two to 15 pounds in weight. The Findleys report delightful weath er for their visit. Enlists In Army George D Cormie, son of Dave Connie of Prospect, has enlisted for a three- year period In the regular army, according to a dispatch from the Military Personnel Procurement service in Portland. Coast Guard for a two-year cruise last Wed nesday and was transferred to Alameda, Calif., for basic train ing, according to word from the Portland recruiting station, Chorus To Rehears The Rogue Valley chorus will resume rehearsals Tuesday, Feb. 26 at 7:30 p. m. on the high school auditorium stage. All members are requested to be present. The spring concert will be given at the earliest possible date, accord ing to Miss Mabel Nansen, di rector. e Discharged Formerly a tech nician fifth grade, Alex J. Der ring who has spent the past three years as a member of the military police at Camp White, received an honorable discharge from the army recently at Ft. Lewis. Mr. and Mrs. Derring are making their home at Ge Bauer apartments while in Med ford and expect to return to their home in Grand Rapids, Mich., early in April. Derring spent 42 months with the army. Taylor applied for permit to move a residence from the Sears, Roebuck site to 806 South Holly street, Accidents Reported Damage estimated at $100 was caused Thursday to a car operated by R. E. Smith, 335 North Central avenue, when in collision at the intersection of Court and Man zanita streets with an auto drivn by Everett Gillispie, 1315 East Main street, according to accident reports filed with city police. Also damaged slightly Thursday when they collided on North Central avenue, were cars operated by Victor Lehman, route 4, and Thomas J. Fuson. 32 North Central avenue, accord ing to a report at police head quarters. Cabinet Shop In Phoenix Planned Phoenix. Feb. 23 Construc tion of a 48 by 48 foot frame building to house a cabinet shop and living quarters is planned here by G. L. Witte who hopes to have the structure comDleted by next summer. Location of the bulldlne will be on the Pacific highway be tween Second and Third streets where Witte has already ex cavated for the basement. He will manufacture general wood products, sneeinlizinff in kltrhpn cabinets and knotty pine furniture. Witte is presently emnloved as an auto painter at the Rogue River Chevrolet garage. CHARGES DISMISSED AGAINST 5 HUNTERS Charges of hunting on a game refuge have been dismissed in the case of C A. Tharp, W. F. uoye, Tom Fofahl, A H. Boye and Herman Highday, according to counsel for the group. The men were cited to justice court last November by state police while hunting In the Kelly slough area. According to the attorney, the hunters' contention that they were not on forbidden land was later substantiated and the charge was dismissed.
