The affair will be held at the armory In Klamath Falls and Is set for 0 o'clock, Mrs. Jean Asbury Becomes Bride Of Air Corps Veteran Announced Inst week was the wedding of Mrs. Jean Asbury to Paul Mitchell of Plymouth, Ind., which took place Jan. 0 In Indiana. Mrs. Mitchell Is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Hugh Hulbert, B14 Beatty street. Mr. and Mrs. Mitchell are now making their home neat Ply mouth on a farm. They plan to travel to Medford in March and upon their return east will be accompanied by Mrs, Mitchell's two children. Charlene Ann and Marcla L. Asbury. , Mrs. Mitchell was formerly employed In a Medford beauty parlor while the groom was re cently released from the army ai. corps. . Student To Give Recital Sunday Dale Ward, Prospect, 12-year-old accordion pupil of Mrs. Eve Prentice, will be presented In a recital Sunday, Feb. 24, at the Chapel of the Rocks and Roses at 2 p. m. Clifford Eugene Clcgg, Medford, which was solemnized at the Chapel of the Rocks and Roses at 2 o'clock In the afternoon. The Rev. D. E. Millard perform ed the ceremony. For her wedding the bride wore an apple green suit with peach and brown assessorics and a corsage of brown orchids. She was attended by Mrs. Donald Wimer as matron-of-honor. Mrs. Wimer's costume was an aqua suit with black accessories and she wore a white orchid corsage. Best man for Sgt. Clegg was Roy Anderson. Music was provided by the Rev. and Mrs. Millard who sang "Ah, Sweet Mystery of Life" and the Rev. Millard, who sang "Always." Following the double-ring ceremony a reception was held at the chapel. After the tradi tional first slice of wedding cake was cut by the bride and groom, Mrs. Wimer continued the serv ing. Mrs. Herman Offenbacher served punch and Mrs. V, A. Norris poured. Both are aunts of the bride. About 40 guests were present. Sgt. and Mrs. Clegg will make their home In Berkeley, Calif., where the groom is stationed with the army air corps. Mrs. Clegg, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Paul C. Jennings, 304 North Ivy street, is a member of one of the oldest pioneer fam ilies of the county and is a grand daughter of Judge and Mrs. J. B. Coleman. Sgt. Clegg is a son of Mr. and Mrs. T. S. Clegg of Glen Cullen, Portland suburb, who formerly made their home In Medford. He has been In the army for 10 years, formerly having been wit'i the 31st infantry division. A veteran of the battle of Cor reglclor, Sgt. . Clegg spent 42 months In Japanese prison camps and wears a number of decora tions and citations. In Medford for the wedding were Delbert Clegg and Maynard Clegg, brothers of the groom from Berkeley, and Mr. and Mrs. Jesse H. Coleman of Klamath Falls, uncle and aunt of the bride. . . Bridge-Dinners Mark Calendar For This Week Dinner and bridge parties con tinue to mark the social calen dar of Medford folk. Last evening Mr. and Mrs. Fltzhugh Brewer and Mr. and Mrs, Glenn A. Gibbons entertain ed 24 guests, with cocktails be ing served at the Brewer home on East Main street and dinner and bridge following at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Gibbons on Barneburg Road. The two couples plan other affairs of a similar nature for later In the season. This evening Mr. and Mrs. Jus tin Smith and Mr. and Mrs. Glenn Jackson are entertaining at a supper party at the Jack son home, 1017 East Main street, this being the second of a scries of Informal parties planned by these two ocuplcs. Eugene Cummings Honored At Party A surprise party was given the evening of Feb. 8 In cele bration of the 19th birthday an niversary of Eugene Cummings of Rogue River, the affair being at the home of his uncle and aunt, Mr. and Mrs. R. R. Stevens, 110 East Eleventh street: Members of the orchestra to which the youth belongs were present and entertained with Ha waalan music and during the evening the honored guest was presented a number of birthday gifts. Birthday refreshments were served. rene McDonOUgh Is Wed Thursday To Med ford Man The Chapel of the Rocks and Roses was the scene of the wed ding February 14 of Miss Irene May McDonough, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ivan McDonough of Jacksonville, and Edward Har rison Hawkins, son of Mr. and Mrs. Charles A. Hawkins, 310 Haven street. The service was read by the Rev. D. E. Millard. The bride was dressed in a light gray striped suit with black hat and accessories. She wore gardenias. Miss Lillian McDon ough, sister of the bride, was maid of honor and wore a light blue suit' and hat with black ac cessories. Arvld White served as best man. "Because" and "Ah, Sweet Mystery of Life" were sung by the Rev. and Mrs. Millard fol lowing the ceremony which was attended by 30 guests. The groom was honorably dis charged from the navy In Octo ber and is now employed with the Southwest Oregon Dairy Co operative association. Both the bride and groom have spent most of their lives in this vicin ity, sht having graduated from Medford high school in 1944. Mrs. Hawkins Is employed at the Bear Creek orchards office. Following a short wedding trip Mr. and Mrs. Hawkins will make their home In Medford. Marna Sandvig, Donald Vosika Wed At Chapel Miss Marna Doris Sandvig be came the bride of Donald Arthur Vosika at a ceremony rjerform ed by the Rev. D. E. Millard at the Chapel of the Rocks and Roses Friday. Feb. IS, at seven o'clock In the evening. The bride Is a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Henry Sandvig, Central Point, and the groom's parents are Mr. and Mrs. Frank Vosika. 322V4 South Central avenue, Medford. The bride, given In marriage by her father, was gowned In a white velvet dress fashioned with a train. Her finger-tip length veil fell from a coronet of oranife blossoms and the bri dal bouquet was of gardenias and sweetheart roses. Mrs. Harold Braun, matron-of-honor, was attired In a floor lenth dress nf pink marquisette and wore a ccisage of gardenias. Hector Vosika served as best man for his brother. Mrs. Millard played the wed ding march and she and the Rev. Millard sang "Ah, Sweet Mystery of Life" preceding the serv ce. The reception wns held at the chapel, with about 30 friends attending. Mrs. Kussen tun dell, sister of the groom, served the wedding cake and Mrs. Avis Lovcll served punch. Mr. and Mrs. Vosika win make their home In Medford The groom Is a marine corps veteran, having served with the famous First Division for more than two years, 18 months of which he spent In the Pacific theater. He held the rank of corporal and was awarded a number of citations. Mrs. Vosi ka Is a graduate of Central Point high school. Medford Woman Leaves For Portland Villi Mrs. W. P. Schnell, Millersburg. O. Mildred Burman, Loren Ashmore Married Monday The wedding of Miss Mildred R. Burman to Loren J. Ashmore of Salmon, Ida., took place Mon day, Feb 1, the rites being sol emnized at the Methodist par sonage by the Rev. Lculs C. Kir by. The couple was attended by Mr. and Mrs. L. C. Davis of Med ford. The bride's wedding costume was a French wisteria dressmak er suit with black topcoat and block accessories. She wore a corsage of gardenias. Mrs. Davis wore a suit of fuchsia tones and a corsage of American violets. Following the ceremony a wedding dinr.er was served at Runp's dining room in Central Toint to the bridal party and Mr. and Mrs. W. H. Rucker. Mrs. Walker Treece Leaves For New York Mrs. Walker Treece left Port land Friday night for New York City where she will spend a month with Mr. and Mrs. W Garland Jones. While Lt. Chase Evelyn Mary Almond, daught er of Mrs. T. P. Caldwell of 335 North Ivy street, became the bride of Vincen LeRoy Chase a son of Mrs. Al Sablock of Rose burg, at a ceremony held Feb. 13 at the Chapel of the Rocks and Roses here. The Rev. D. E Millard officiated. The bride's dress was of tur quoise blue worn with a match ing hat. Her attendants were Mrs. Thelma M. Andrews, mat ron-of-honor, who wore a navy blue dress and hat, and Miss Louise E. Baxter, bridesmaid who was attired in a two-piece black costume. Preceding the service the Rev Millard sang "At Dawning." Both Mr. and Mrs. Chase are on the staff of the Holland hotel and they will make their home here. The groom, recently dis charged from the army medical corps, was in the service more than five years, 42 months of which was spent overseas both in the Asiatic-Pacific and the European theaters. He held the rank of technician. Cancelation Announced By Musical Society February meeting of the Med ford Musical society has been canceled according to an an nouncement by officers of the group. Cancelation was found necessary due to the illness of program committee members and other members of the so ciety it was said. Main WORK MTOUalLpjrf Metzger-Goodrich Rites Take Place At Home Of Bride At a Valentine Day wedding Phyllis Joyce Metzger, youngest daughter of Mrs. Jessie Metzger of Central Point, became the bride of Vernal Lewis Goodrich, son of Mrs. E. Goodrich of Lo vell, Wyo. The couple, married at the home of the bride's mother, ex changed vows before an arrange ment of lighted tapers, white gladioli and fern. The Rev. Harry W. Hansen officiated, us ing the double-ring ceremony. The bride, who was given In marriage by her brother-in-law, Capt, R. Forbes, wore a dress maker suit of soft blue and car ried a bouquet of white roses and pink and white carnations. Her only attendant, Miss Joyce Hens- peter, of Jacksonville, wore a lavender suit with a rose camel lia corsage. fraditional wedding music was played by Mrs. James Grigs by, Jr., who also accompanied Miss Arlene Smets, cousin of the bride, in two solos, "Wait and See" and "Oh Promise Me." Both Miss Smets and Mrs. Grigsby wore pastel suits with gardenia and carnation corsages. The groom was attended by Paul Henspeter of Jacksonville. After the ceremony, Mrs. An- ell Gunter of Jacksonville pre sided at a candle-lighted table where the bride and groom cut the wedding cake. Serving was continued by Mrs. Grigsby. Mr. and Mrs. Goodrich will return to Medford after a short wedding trip and then will con tinue to Billings, Mont., and Lovell, Wyo. Both plan to enter college in the early fall at Laramie, Wyo. The groom was recently released from the navy.
