ceiving an honorable discharge

South Pacific. Varner held the
rank of technical sergeant while
in the army and served with the
signal corps of the sixth army
headquarters in New Guinea,
Philippines and Japan. He ex
pects to return to Oregon State
college in the fall.

Bus In Wreck A truck driv
en by Duane M. Corwln, Trail,
was damaged considerably this
morning when in collision at the
Summit avenue and Jackson
street intersection with a Roose
velt school bus operated by Ar
thur Short, 622 West Second
street, city police reported. The
Corwin vehicle skidded 98 feet
in an attempt to avoid striking
the bus, which was loaded with
school students, police said. No
one was injured, the report
stated.
Cleven Home Edgar M. ele

returned to the home of his par
ents Saturday from Ft. Lewis,
Wash., following an honorable
discharge from the army. Cleven
was released from the army aft
