Feb. 4 (U.ft The race for national collegiate bas ketball honors, scrambled last week-end by upsets which left Navy the only major unbeaten team, was expected to clear this week as the schedule, seemingly tailor-made for the records, sent top-ranking teams against each other In "eliminations." Navy Not Ranked Despite Its perfect record in seven games, Navy was not rank ed as the best in the nation, and Iowa, Oklahoma A. & M., Notre Dame, New York university. Kentucky and Indiana, all were rated on a par with the Middies, who beat Columbia last Satur day, 62 to 41. West Virginia, DePaul, Holy Cross, Duke and Ohio State also had their fans. However, some order was bound . to appear after this week's games, which match Notre Dame (13 won, one lost) against New York university (12-1) at New York; a "Spoiler" Temple five against Duke at Philadelphia; and Holy Cross (10-1) versus Yale (12-1). Ariz., Feb. 4 (U.R) The winter golf circuit moved on to San Antonio for the Texas open today after Jimmy De maret of Houston won the Tuc son open yesterday with a score that broke one record and tied another. His total for the 72 holes tied the tournament record set by Ray Mangrum in winning the meet last year, and his seven-under-par 63 on the second round as a new record for the El Rio course. He finished four strokes ahead of Herman Barron of White Plains. N. Y.. and took down $1,500 for the victory. Barron carded a 67 on the final round, two less than Demaret needed, but the Texan's lead was too big to affect the final outcome. Feb. 4 (U.R) Germany's "criminal premedita tion" to destroy the sovereignty of western European nations was proved by her total annexation of Luxembourg, French Prose cutor Edgar Faure told the In ternational War Crimes Tribunal today. I The same pattern of "systema tic crime" and "Germanization carried out in Alsace-Lorraine, Holland and Denmark was a plot against Luxembourg s freedom involving every branch of the German government, Faure charged. Citiienship Offered The prosecutor said special ef forts were made to Nazify Lux embourg. German citizenship was offered the inhabitants. Those who refused to pledge allegiance to Hitler were either deported or shot. Five hundred were sentenced to death for this reason by emergency Gestapo tribunals, "as in Alsace-Lorraine," Faure told the court, "the Germans attempted to ex tirpate all national sentiment." The prosecutor said Luxem bourg's youth was a particular target of the Nazification pro gram: Teachers were forced to read Mein Kampf, and students were required to give their pro fessors the Nazi salute. . Authorities Involved Not only Nazi party members. Faure continued, but German diplomats, military authorities and police were Involved in the plot to usurp the sovereign power of European, countries. In Denmark, the prosecutor charged, the Nazis began their first efforts to Germanize the population before the war with propaganda and through or ganization, of the Danish Nazi party. Next, storm trooper units were established in South Jut land, slowly spreading through Denmark. Nazi financial groups also were created to gain finan cial control of the country. oermany sought to establish the fiction that Denmark was not an occupied country."
