A. Z. Dean presided over a business meeting and election of club officers. Ward Hammond was named president, Roland Hubbard, vice-president and Mrs. Arthur Hess, secretary. Bridge-Luncheon Given Thursday By Two Hostesses Entertaining at the first of a series of bridge luncheons, Mrs. Jamos Grigsby of Jacksonville and Mrs. Ray Wright were host esses at the latter's home, 60 North Orange street, Thursday afternoon. The women plan two additional parties. Mrs. Roland Smith was pre sented a prize for high score at bridge, Mrs. Michael Beck prize for second high score and Mrs. Cole Holmes for low score while Mrs. Ed Feldman won the trav eling prize. Sixteen guests were Invited for the affair. Gold Hill Clubs Have Meetings Gold Hill Gold Hill Garden club met ut the home of Mrs, Bob Kles Jan. 18. The chairman, Mrs. Willie McLean, gave In structions on "Starting plants from slips and cuttings." Refreshmei.ta were served by the hostess, Mrs. Kles, and the co-hostesses, Mrs. Edith Bryan and Mrs. Julia Tulare. Next meeting of the group will bo Feb. 1 at the home of Mrs. Hazel Holdnerness, with "Primroses" as the subject. The Gold Hill Extension unit met at the home of Mrs. Don Ferguson, Sr., with Mrs. Willie McLean as project leader for the subject, ' Good Care of Cloth ing." Mrs. McLean also made a table arrangement of Juniper and Jasmine. Mrs. Viola Moore presided over the business meet ing. Next meeting will be Feb. 8 at the home of Mrs. Frank Car ter on Garden Row, the subject to be "Main Dish Meals." Rites Are Held In California The wedding of June Bell, Grants Pass, to Wesley Specrs of Medford took place at Yreka, Calif., Saturday, Jan. 19. The bride Is a daughter of Mr. and Mrs, Jay Hlgglnbotham, Grants Pass. Mrs. Dyle O. Hood, new president, and Mrs. C. P. Talbot, Jr., retiring presi dent, were presented corsages. Other new officers are Mrs. Harry Stahl, first vice-president; Mrs. Jack Clark, second vice president) Mrs. Kcva Hutchin son, secretary, and Mrs. D. R. Allred, treasurer. Prospective members present were Mrs. Harold Baughman and Mrs. E. W. Bean while Mrs. E. G. Ufer of Montana end Mr:. R. C. Brlnker of Spokane were guests. Prizes went to Mrs. Talbot, Mrs. John H. Tizekker and Mrs. Stahl for pinochle and to Mrs. George Lewis, Mrs. Ufer and Mrs. Philip Epstein for bridge. Mrs. Bean was also presented a prize. Mrs. Stahl, Mrs. Clark and Mrs. Conrad Koski were hos tesses. Next meeting of the club will be the annual birthday party set for Feb. 14 at the club. Stockman Warns Against Dangers In British Loan Washington, Jan. 28 0J.R) Rep. Lowell Stockman, R., Ore., today asked the house where the United States "would draw the line" tf the proposed loan to Great Britain were granted. "Let the British get their foot inside the door of the U. S. treasury and we'll have plenty of other 'customers' right be hind them all expecting hand outs," he told the house. He listed Russia, France, Italy, Belgium and Poland as potential borrowers. "It Is perfectly obvious that we Just cannot make all these loans without going bankrupt outselves," he said.
