Mullen arrived Tuesday from Plains, Mont., for an extended visit at the home of his parents, Mr. and Mrs. A. J. Mullen, of Cherry avenue. Reese Creek Meeting Reese Creek Extension Unit will meet January 8 at the home of Mrs. Joy Williams. "Handle With Care" will be the project topic given by Aulda Williams and Margaret Gardener. Visitors are welcome. Building Permits E. D. Marr, 1005 W. Main, applied Friday for permission to erect a $5,000 residence at 605 S. King St. Also applying was H. D. Remington, who plans to build a 82,000 combined garage and residence at 28 Vancouver Ave. Talent Unit To Meet Talent Extension Unit will meet at 10:30 a. m. January 9 in the city hall. Topic will be "Handle With Care." A covered dish luncheon will be enjoyed at noon. All ladies interested are invited and those attending should bring their own table service. In Hospital Cpl. Thomas G. Reames, son of Mr. and Mrs. Charles. Reames, 27 Geneva street, underwent an emergency operation for appendicitis at the U. S. Regional Hospital, Oak land, Calif., New Year's Eve ac cording to information received by his parents. It is reported that he is recovering satisfactor ily. The young man has been in the army two years. To Grants Pass George E. Falmiter has assumed duty as manager of the Pierce Auto Freight office at Grants Pass. Mr. Falmiter was employed in the company's Medford office for four months before going to Grants Pass. Before coming here he had been in the freight ing business in Portland for six years. Mr. and Mrs. Palmiter and their two sons Larry and Alex will continue to make their home here until accommodations can be found in Grants Pass. Unit Sets Meeting Oakgrove Extension unit will meet Jan. 8 at the home of Mrs. Brewold. Jacksonville highway, at 11 a.m. Topic for the day will be "Han dle With Care." Those attend ing are asked to bring a yard of muslin, or a feed sack, needle, thimble and thread and two mag azines. A poUuck luncheon will be served at noon and members are to bring luncheon service. Children will be cared for at the home of Mrs. George White on Janney Lane. Work To Resume The Red Cross production room in the courthouse auditorium will re open this week after being closed for five weeks, according to Mrs. A. Orin Schenck, pro duction chairman. Work will be carried on both Tuesday and Wednesday, beginning at 10 a. m., with both cutting and sew ing, Mrs. Schenck states. Those wishing to do so may bring sand wiches for lunch. Wave Returns Jean Swayne, recently discharged after two years service in the Waves, is visiting her mother and sister at 244 S. Grape street. She was stationed In Washington, D. C, and at Potuxent, Md. At the opening of the spring term she plans to enter Marylhurst col lege In Portland. Mayor Home Mayor C. A. Meeker and wife and daughter, Eleanor, returned yesterday, from an extended trip to Cali fornia cities where they visited friends and relatives. They spent Christmas day in Santa Barbara and during the trip stopped at Redding, San Jose, Los Angeles, Fresno and Chico. They left Medford December 21. Senator Here Senator and Mrs. Guy Cordon, Roseburg, and Marshall Cornett, Klamath Falls, were in Medford Friday night. Senator and Mrs. Cordon were en route to Washington. D. C, following a holiday vaca tion at their home in Roseburg, while Mr. Cornett was on his way to his home in Klamath Falls. Brother Leaves The Rev. Aubrey Bray left yesterday for Los Angeles and El Centro, Calif., after having been a guest of his brother and sister-in-law, Dr. J. P. Bray, Lozier Lane. After a month in the south he will return to the county before continuing to his home In Sea side. The Rev. Bray is rector of the Episcopal church in Sea side. Couple To Portland Mr. and Mrs. Paul Bray left last week for Portland whore Mr. Bray will enter the Western States Chiropractic college. After com pleting a four-year course at the college, Bray will return to Medford and will enter practice with his father. Dr. J. P. Bray.
