Society and CLUBS Dorothy Troxell Becomes Bride of David Harbison Miss Dorothy Troxell, daugh ter of Mr. and Mrs. W. N. Trox ell, South Peach street, became the bride of David L. Harbison, son of Mr. and Mrs. M. W. Har bison, Lakeview, at a service held New Year's Eve at the First Christian church In Medford. The Rev. D. W. Daniels read the double-ring ceremony at 11:30 p. m. before an altar dec orated with pink and white chrysanthemums and greenery. The tall while tapers were light ed by the Misses Frances Troxell and Mary Alice Harbison. Preceding the ceremony Miss Joyce Sims sang "Because" and "Always" accompanied by Mrs. Mable Sims who also played the wedding march. The bride wore a princess styled gown of white satin en train with full length veil held in place by a crown of orange blos soms. She carried a bouquet of white carnations and pink rose buds. Her sister, Miss Arlene Trox ell, was maid-of-honor. She wore a gown of pink net and carried a bouquet of rose buds, carna tions and baby chrysanthemums. The bridesmaids, Miss Katherine Gentner and Mrs. James Eller, were dressed in yellow net gowns and carried bouquets to match. John F. Harbison, brother of the groom, acted as best man The ushers were James Eller and Roy Cameron. Following the ceremony a re ception was held in the church ocial hall. The wedding cake was served by - Mrs. Charles Smith, with Mrs. Eloise Winkle bleck and Miss Doris Hake as sisting. Mrs. Arnold Bohnert served punch with Miss Frances Zimblemen and Miss Diana Monia assisting. Mrs. M. E. Ol son was in charge of the guest book. Mrs. C. C. Sater and Mrs. I.. G. Gentner arranged the flowers. Here for the wedding were the groom's parents, John F. and Mary Alice Harbison, also of Lakeview; Mrs. Jennie Harris and Grace Boat, Ashland. The bride, a graduate of Med ford high school, attended South ern Oregon College of Educa tion, and has spent the last two and a half years in Seattle. The groom, radio technician in the navy, graduated from Bo nanza high school and was a stu dent of Southern Oregon College of Education at the time of his enlistment in the navy. He has recently returned from serving 24 months in the South Pacific and Japan. The couple will reside in Se attle, where the groom is now stationed. New Year's Eve Party Is Given By Young Folk Many of the valley's holiday events were planned by young people home from school and college for the Christmas and New Year vacation. Among such affairs was the formal dancing party given New Year's eve, by Miss June Williams and Bill Patton at the home of the latter's parents, Mr. and Mrs. C. Rease Braley, Valley View Drive. The two young people had ar ranged the Braley play room with festive decorations In the New Year theme. About 30 young people attended the a'f fair. HINKLE CORNER OF W. 6TH and HOLLY Sanden Family Holds Reunion During Holidays A family reunion was held at the home of Mr. and Mrs. G. O. Sanden, 304 South Central ave nue, during the holidays when five of their six children were home. Last to arrive for the re union was Gage Sanden, elec trician's mate in the navy, who arrived from Jacksonville, Fla., Dee. 22, his birthday, and who reports back to his ship, the USS Solomons, Jan. 24. Others present were Mrs. Seth Waters and Preston Card, Klamath Falls, Mrs. Herbert Stoll and Mrs. Dale McMullin. Missing from the family roll call was Roger Card, thought to be on his way home from Okinawa for release from the army. On Christmas Day 17 people enjoyed a tree and dinner at the family home. In addition to the aforementioned members of the family those present were Mr. and Mrs. J. G. Viall and Mr. and Mrs. Jewel Parr, Phoenix; Seth Waters, Klamath Falls; Herbert Stoll, Taylor, Tex., and the Stolls' infant son; Dale E. Mc Mullin, Jr., Mr. and Mrs. E. H. Pathman and sons, Ernest and Gordon of this city. This was the first time in many years that so large a family gathering had been held. Several members of the fam ily were in Klamath Falls for the New Year's holiday, return ing Wednesday to Medford. 1 Science Advance Is Club Subject Program for the meeting of the Wednesday Study club last week featured new develop ments in medicine and commu nications, with Mrs. E. A. Moore and Mrs. C. A. Renken speak ing. Mrs. Moore based her talk on the advancement made in medi cine and surgery during the last 20 years and noted especially how the new drugs and medical methods had been used success fully during the war. She spoke also of the use of plastic surgery in the rehabilitation of wounded soldiers. The vital part played by fast communications' during the past few years and new developments to keep pace with the need was the subject presented by Mrs. Renken. A machine from the Medford telegraph office was on display and Mrs. Renken ex plained Its use and method of transmitting messages. Informal discussion and a question period followed each talk. Newlywed Couple Honored at Party Central Point A shower party was given at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Gilbert Wright in Central Point Dec. 14 for their son, Neil, and his bride, married recently. Mrs. Wright is the former Joanna Scrivner of Par ma, Ida. The honored couple received a shower of miscellane ous gifts. Guests included the Rev. and Mrs. H. Lee Williams and chil dren; Mrs. Francis Coffman and children; Mrs. Homer Marshall and son; the Misses Mozell and Modell Marshall, Mrs. Jim West. Mrs. George Wright. Mrs. Ollie Conrad, Mrs. Melvin Johnson and son, Mrs. L. H. Hughes. Mrs. Paul Reynolds, Mrs. Clayton Goodnight, Bryan Marshall. Oland Marshall, Floyd Wright. Mrs. Elmer Coffman and son and the honored guests. Mrs. Coffman assisted Mrs. Wright in serving. Mrs. Ray Zulauf Honored At Party Phoenix A bridal shower honoring Mrs. Ray Zulauf,' the former Gladys Coffman, was given at her home in Phoenix Dec. 18. Mrs. Zulauf was pre sented with a shower of miscel laneous gifts and refreshments were served by Mrs. Neil Wright and Mrs. Elmer Coffman.
