YOUTH RALLY AT LOCAL CHURCH IS ILL ATTENDED The annual Christ's Ambassa dors' rally, held New Year's Day at the Assembly of God church, 11 Newtown street, met with great success, the church pastor reports. At the first service, conducted at 2:30 p. m. reports were given by youth leaders of various communities and each of the groups contributed to a musical program. Lester McNabb, ex serviceman from Fresno, Calif., gave number on his "singing saxaphone" and Evangelist Nels G. Lien spoke from the Twenty Third Psalm, reminding the young people that "Christ has the satisfying portion of them to day." At 6:30 p. m. a vesper service was conducted by John Wright, Joan Wright, Korene Ballew and Morris Nylander, Bible school students from San Fran cisco. The day closed with a rally at 7:30 p. m. Favorite hymns were sung by the congre gation and special numbers again given by visiting groups. Evangelist Lien conducted a youth choir. A feature of the evening were vibra-harp and violin duets, electric steel gui tar solos and vocal selections. So large was the audience that many were forced to stand to hear Evangelist Lien speak on "It Can Be Done." THE GRANGE LIVE OAK GRANGE Live Oak Grange of Rogue River, Ore., had an enjoyable and successful free turkey din ner New Year's day. Grange furnished the turkeys, p.rd four of the Grange ladies prepared them. A large attendance turned out, and all seemed to have a very pleasant afternoon. No previous figures are avail able for comparison. Applications were approved for erecting seven new homes of 510,600 total valuation. Other permits and values were as fo) lows: house remodeling, eight, $3,600; building remodeling four, $1,700, and miscellaneous, two, $285. New Drag-Line To Start Operation Soon at J'Ville Jacksonville, Jan. 4 Arrival of a drag-line, now enroute and expected within two days, will enable the new J. C. McKim placer mining plant here to initiate operation. McKim says that the plant should open about Monday Four or five men will be em ployed by the unit which is mo bile In nature. The plant, located on F street between the Stage road and 3rd street, will work over that area. McKim is concentrating on the construction of an additional unit.
