Von Ting Awaits Discharge From Navy Service Gerald Schiller von Ting, Ylc, USNR, of Butte Falla and Medford, soon will be honor ably discharged from the U. S. Naval service, according to a dispatch received from aboard the USS Oswald. Van Ting has served aboard the Oswald for the past 18 months during which time he has built up a commendable record. Prior to his assignment to the Oswald, a destroyer escort of the Atlantic Fleet, von Ting was stationed at Camp Peary, Va., and later at First District Naval Headquar ters at Boston, Mass. Von Ting holds compalgn medals for the American, Afri can, Middle Eastern and Euro pean theaters of war and was commended by his commanding officer for his reliability and unexcltablllty In the face of enemy action. The navy man was recently married to Maria LI Bassl of Woonsocket, R. I., and they plan to make their home In the west subsequent to his discharge. Steel stocks declined up to 3 points in Bethlehem before the selling lightened. Motor Issues had losses running to more than 2 points in Chrysler and 2 points in General Motors. For a time the airlines were the heavy losers with Eastern touching 116 off 3.
