AtoarfaAaa SIX MEDFORD MAIL-TRIBUNE Your Health and It's Care Bf OH. WILLIAM BRADY M.D. Readori should eddreu inquiries toi Dr William Brady. 263 CI Caintno BeTerly Hilii Calif. UNJUSTIFIABLE MAJOR OPERATION Surgical removal of tonsils with guillotine and snare or des- so-caliea enuclea tion" is seri ous, major operation 1 n volving such grave risks to the child's life that In my opinion it is rarely Justifi able. If there Is reason to be lieve or fear the tonsil is Dr. Brady the seat of malignancy (cancer develop ment), then this radical opera tion is indeed imperative Imme diately. If the child's breathing is ob structed enough to retard or im pair development and growth of to make the child constantly restless . in the struggle for breath nights, then an operation should be done, but not tonsil lectomy, if you ask me. I'd have no such atrocity Inflicted on my child in such circumstance. In stead I'd have the tonsils "clip ped" a considerable portion sliced off with the gadget called the tonslllotome as soon as the child is under ether the ring of the gadget is placed around the tonsil and phttl a portion is sliced off; then in Jlgg time a portion is sliced off the opposite side. That's all. And that is enough. I say it Is atrocious to subject the child to any greater risk Just because the doctor is confused in his mind as to the purpose of treatment. Believe it or not, the conception on which some physicians and throat specialists base the prac tlce of "getting every bit of ton- sill" is that tonsil tissue In itself Is harmful or dangerous to have Jn the throat. If this Isn't an absurd medical fallacy I'll eat my words, and I'll do It right here in public. It is a familiar trick of many puff ling little all around "specialist" (eye, ear, nose, NOTICE TO CREDITORS Notice is hereby given that I have been appointed by the County Court of Jackson County, Oregon, Executrix of the Will of Henry Leland Van Dermnrk, de ceased, and have qualified. The death rate of tonslllcc tomy Is high. The incidence of lung abcess as an aftermath is enough to warrant condemna tion of the operation except In rare cases (malignancy). That some physicians and surgeons still countenance and urge it upon parents as casually as one might advise vaccination or im munization against diphtheria, Is a commentary on the pre tensions of "medical science". It Is now nearly three decades since the focal infection prin ciple was introduced. It was and Is sound In theory and of real value when Intelligently ap plied, notwithstanding all the teeth and tonsils that were sac rificed In blind speculation on the off chance that removal of these perfectly normal organs mlgh possibly eradicate the hypothetical septic focus that was responsible for whatever ailed the victim. GrantJ Pass, Dec. 10 Grants Pass may get parking meters, but Grants Pass will not like them according to new commen taries by business men, mer chants, officials, and men along the streets. The city emerged as a "sma'l town" in local eyes as the new statements were given, but sev eral refused to be quoted as their opinions, they said, were too hot" to be published. That the merchants have only themselves to blame vas an opinion expressed in different quarters, and by merchants themselves. This grew from what was termed abuse of pres ent parking facilities as the mer- cnants kept their own cars parked along business streets. A greater need for safety de vices was pointed out. Rev. E. J. Aschenbrenner, pastor of the Newman Metho dist church, said: "The first con cern of our city government with regard to traffic shtuld be the item of safety, not another device for collecting revenue Parking meters will contribute nothing toward the greater safe ty of our people. Signal lights and better protection at railroad crossings should come first. "Let the people park wher ever there is room. When Sixth street Is full, they will pt-rk on a side street. Parking meters will result In increasing the speed and decreasing the safety of Sixth street traffic."
