Personally we wish Miss Anderson would confine herself en tirely to negro spirituals and eliminate the grand opera except perhaps one or two contralto operettas from Wagner. We realize this reveals a low-brow taste, but no one can sing negro spirituals like a negro, and no negro can sing them better than Marion Anderson she understands them and feels them feels them gen uinely, we believe only those who do can do them justice. (Don't worry, Mrs. G, this won't be done!) That Is one of the advantages of Boston we failed to list the very best in music is here, including the famous Boston Sym phony which once topped them all and is probably as good as iny now. Everything that New York affords in music is here, In fact, and one doesn't have to take that intense tempo of Manhatten to get it there is no more stress and strain here from a civic stand point than there is in Portland.
