Dte. t, 1945 Society and CLUBS Yuletide Wreaths Are Made By Club For Navy Hospital A great many Modford Gar den club members gathered Wednesday and Thursday to as sist Mrs. Max Lcisehner, chair man, in making wreaths, gar lands and other evergreen ar rangements for the Camp White hospital and the Riverside USO. Ninety-two pieces and 75 feet of garlands were completed. Serv ing on Mrs. Leischner s commit tee were the Mesdames E. Birk holz, E. Ferguson, M. Mears, L. Ciober and F. W. Sehcffcl. The basement of the home of Mrs. W. L. Grecnleaf, 103 South Holly, had been offered as a workshop and after the wreaths were completed, members ad journed to the living room for a business meeting, program and tea. I'rs. C. A. Menken gave an interesting talk on traditional Christmas plants and symbols. Mrs. Ralph Woodford, chair man for the tea hour, was assist ed by Mrs. M. Ottoman, Mrs. C. C. Furnas and Mrs. L. V. Wat kins. Mrs. R. T. Niehol, a past president, poured at a tea table centered with holly and mistle toe. Prizes were won by Mrs. Niehol and Mrs. Otto Ewaldscn. Mrs. W. C. Rookard, president of the club, will furnish the Jackson County Chamber of Commerce with flowers during December. Group Concludes Program Series At Last Meeting Chapel Rites Held For Deloris Davis And Edward B. Ross The concluding program in the series on "Uprooted Amer cans" was given at the meeting of the Adult Missionary society of the First Christian church held Wednesday at the church parlors and presided over by Mrs. Walter Kindred. Subject for the day was "A Mighty Fortress." Mrs. J. T. Davis was program chairman and participating were Mrs. William Foley, Mrs. Merle Ivie and Mrs. Gypsy Richmond. Mrs. F. A. Daugherty conducted the worship period, the theme be-i man. ins "Their Need Our! The Rev Strength." Mrs. Verne Bailey s group served refreshments to 45 mem bers and friends. The wedding of Miss Deloris Lorraine Davis, daughter of Rol lic L. Davis, formerly of Med- ford and now of Bcavcrton, Ore., to Edward Blaine Ross of La Grande, Ore., took place here Friday Dec. 7, at the Chapel of the Rocks and Roses. The groom is a son of William E. Ross. LaGrandc. Miss Davis wore a gray suit, with a headdress and a corsage of red roses. Her maid-of-hon-or, Miss Winona Jean Nowlin, wore a fuchsia suit with a cor sage of white carnations. Marvin L. O. O. F. hall. Plans were made to take a candidate for initiation at the meeting. A Christmas party with a gift exchange is to be held Dec. 17 and each member attending is asked to bring a sack lunch. Coffee and cream will be fur nished by the lodge. On Dec. 20 at 7:30 p. m. the Odd Fellows and Rebekah will give a Christmas party with a children's program. Santa Claus will be present with treats. Bartlctt Reviews Feature Meeting of Club Two book reviews featured the meeting of the Wednesday Study club at the Girls' Com munity club last week, Mrs. N. T. Hodges reviewing "I Saw Two Englands" by H. V. Morton and Mrs. G. A. Dicrdorff "Bal lad und the Source" by Rosa mond Lchmann. Morton compares pre-war England with the country dur ing the heighth of the war and. ; watching for planes from a bol- fry, sums his thought up by writing that the war with Ger . many has really helped England by making her realize her true position. The Lehman work, a book of modern fiction, deals with three generations of on English fam ily in the World War 1 period. Newlywudi To Leave For New Mexico City Ashland Mr. and Mrs. Trice M. Hcnnan, Jr., will leave to morrow for Albuquerque, N. M., where they will visit Mr. Hen nan's parents. The Hcnnans arc newly married, their wedding having taken place Nov. 27. Mrs. Hcnnan is the former Miss Margaret Whittle, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. W. David Whittle. 1 D. E. Millard per formed the candlelight service, preceding which he sang "I Love You Truly" and he and Mrs. Millard sang "Moonlight and Roses." "The Lord Prayer" followed the ceremony. At the reception, held at the chapel, Mrs. Madeline Nowlin served the wedding cake and Mrs. Delia Davis, grandmother of the bride, served punch. Mr. and Mrs. Ros are on wedding trip to Portland and LaGrande and will then go to Seattle where the groom will be released from service after three years as a radio technician in both the Atlantic and South Pa- cifie tlieaters. They will return to Medford to reside. The bride is 'a graduate of Medford high school with the class of 1845. Methodist Women Plan Yule Party For New Members Plan are being made for a Christmas tea which will be given at the Medford Methodist church Dec. 17 honoring all new members of the Woman's So ciety of Christian Service and all new women members of the church. Hours will be from 2:30 to 5 p. m. Mrs. W. F. Frost Is program chairman, Mrs. Ralph Woodford and Mrs. Lewis Gilliland are In charge of decorations and Mrs. Harry Meyers and Mrs. Albert Frank the refreshment commit tee. 1 Student Hostess To Class Members Miss Dorothy Ray, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Ray, 30 Summit avenue, entertained forty members of the sophomore class of Medford high school last night with a dancing party in Saint Mark's guild hall.
