What the Girl Scouts Are Doing ORGANIZE CHORUS A Girl Scout chorus has been organized for all Girl Scouts in Jackson County. First meeting for this chorus will be at the Scout Headquarters, 500 E. Main street, Saturday, Dec. 8th, at 11:00 a. m. The chorus Is under the sponsorship of the Girl Scout program committee of which Mrs. C. A. Thatcher is chairman. Girls desiring badge credit will be able to complete the require ments for the group music badge. Christmas carols will be fea tured in December, as Girl Scouts traditionally sing carols in the local hospitals. A. A. Scott said he would let the youth authority see if it could put a damper on Sonny's charm. The beardless Lothario appeared before him yesterday in a probation hear ing. Rogue River Rogue River, Dec. 6 Once more the mill whistle blows after being quiet for two months on account of the strike, The mill started up again Wed nesday morning. Teed Cardin, who owns the brick store, left Sunday for Cabin, Idaho, to visit his aged mother. The same evening his son Kenneth traveled with him as far as Spokane on his way to Ft. Lewis where he expects to be discharged soon. Kenneth has been on a furlough and he and family have been visiting his parents here. v Mr. and Mrs. Jean Cacan and small daughter have been visit ing at the Wiley-Carter ranch. Jean has just returned from overseas and has his discharge. Mrs. Cacan will be remembered here as Wilma Shepherd. The body of Ruth Hawley was found in the bus when it was raised at Lake Chelan, Wash. Ruth was a former resi dent here when her father ran a second hand store in the brick store. She attended school here. The Hawleys also lost two grandchildren In the school bus tragedy. Mr. and Mrs. Garfield Laws recently returned from Vallejo, Calif., where they visited their daughter and family, Mrs. Enos Thorton. Mrs. Grace Rusho of Medford was a recent visitor here and called on some of her old friends, Mrs. Cary and Mrs. C. S. Hatch. She was accompan ied by her grandson. Wilson Neathammer, grand son of Mrs. Tom W.ilson, has re cently been discharged from the army and visited his grand mother last week. Leve Biggers spent several days at Oakland, Calif., visiting his mother. He spent Thanks giving with her. Mrs. Richard Scott has receiv ed word from her mother, Mrs. L. Pryor at Kodiak, Alaska, that she and husband expect to leave by boat about the middle of the month for Rogue River. Mr. and Mrs. Pryor may locate here. They have sold their pro perty on Nelson Islanu. Alaska. Mrs. Effie Birdseye was hos-1 tess at a shower held at her the Opening home on South Pacific Highway in honor of Miss Eileen Dick whose engagement to Charles Miller has been announced re cently. Miss Dick received many lovely gifts. Chet Willson has sold his feed store here. Mr. Willson will be missed by his patrons. Mrs. Al Osburn is In Wyom ing visiting her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Hawk and other relatives. Mr. and Mrs. Melvin Burnett and two children of Vancouver,, spent Thanksgiving with Mr. Burnett's parents and visited Mrs. Burnett's father and other relatives on Sardine Creek. Mr. and Mrs. Otto Furhman, who were recently married in California, have returned to their home on the South High way. Mrs. Furhman was Mrs. Olive Kierscey and formerly lived here. The Girl Scouts bazaar at their home here Saturday night was a success in every way. Everyone reported a very pleas ant evening. A new store, Barry's Swap Shop, has just started in Rogue River. A second-hand store in the building where Mr. Buck and Mr. Barney had a cabinet and machine shop. Foots Creek Foots Creek, Dec. 6 Mr. and Mrs. Kenenth McCellen, who re cently bought the cottage and acre of ground from Charles Mc Lallen, have sold it to Mr. and Mrs. Jake Moore of Evans Creek The McCallens have returned to Los Angeles, their former home Mr. and Mrs. W. Bronish have had as a guest the past week Mrs. Bronish's brother, W. H. Wilcox of Idaho. Mr. and Mrs. Charles McLal len spent Thanksgiving day with Mr. and Mrs. Britton and Mr. and Mrs. Pratt in Grants Pass. Mr. and Mrs. Floyd Lance and son, Bobby, and daughter, Mrs I Ruth Hope, and Mr. and Mrs R. E. Cook of Gold Hill, spent November 22 with Mr. and Mrs. George Lance. Mr. and Mrs. R. E. Stephen son returned from Portland Nov. 28 where they spent several days on business. Mrs. H. Bennett returned home last week from the hospital at Grants Pass and is now able to be up a short time each day. Mr. and Mrs. David G. Robert son of Grants Pass, Rt. 2. called on Mr. and Mrs. R. E. Stephen son November 29, while en route to Stafford, Kans., where they will spend some time visiting relatives. Mr. Robertson is Mrs. Stephenson's brother. .
