Fireman Returns Gordon Barker, recently discharged army veteran, returned last week to his Job with the city fire department after almost three years in the service. Bar ker, who received an honorable discharge in October, served it months with the 5th army in Italy. Mr. and Mrs. Barker re side at 001 Keeneway drive. Klamath J. C. Coming Klamath Falls Junior Chamber of Commerce members will be guests of the Medford JayCees when the group meets at the Holland Hotel Tuesday. Dinner will be served at 6:30 p. m. and will be followed by initiation. Committee members state that rapid progress is being made on plans for1 the JayCees Christ mas project. K. Of P. Permits Issued Forty-four building permits totaling $71,093 wore issued last month from the office of the city superintendent. Charles Blness, 723 West 11th street, re turned home Monday from Gow an field, Ida., where he received an honorable discharge from the army air corps. Blaess. who en tered the service eight months ago. attended an army radio school at Truax field, Madison. Wis., for 16 weeks following basic training at Shepherd field. Tex. He was graduated from Medford high school lint year. Promoted Promotion of Lewis A. Rose, son of Mr. and Mrs. L. A. Rose, 429 South Front street, from staff sergeant to technical sergeant was learned by the sergeant's parents last week. TSgt. Lewis is stationed with the third signal battalion near Keijo Seoul, capital of Ko rea. Two Re-enlist Claire L. Con away, 129 Kenwood avenue, and Clarence W. Bishop, 717 South Peach street, recently re enlisted in the army, according to the Military Personnel Pro curement Service. Conaway served 12 months in the South west Pacific and wears the bronze star, one star on the Asiatic-Pacific ribbon, the American theater, good conduct and American defense medals. Bish op served 28 months in the Aleutians and nine months in Europe and wears the combat infantry badge, ETO ribbon, Asitic-Pacific and American de fense medals. Mrs. Mansfeldt said yesterday, according to llallinan, that she was agreeable toward having her children appear in her defense, llallinan said she protested to day aRainst calling them and then began screaming and sob bing when he argued that their testimony might mean the dif ference between her own free dom or a prison sentence.
