Calit EVERYBODY PUTS WORDS IN MY MOUTH I'll never get over being Irked at the frequent pirating on this column by quacks, nostrum mongers ana food mer chants who seize upon some thing I have said here, strip it care fully of its context, and use it along with my name, w 1 1 h out my knowledge or consent, in Dr. Brady their advertiz ing. Such piracy of a physician's name is illegal in some states, But I do warn all readers that no one is authorized to use my name In that way, not even if the merchant calls me an "eminent medical authority or a "noted physician." Nor is any one authorized to tell you he uses the methods I recommend for that matter, you should remember that If a doctor is good tib satisfied patients see to it that their friends employ him, but if he Is no good he has to resort to other ways of luring customers to his shop. Another complaint I desire to flic (you ore right, I couldn't get into the bowling green to. day) Is about the way readers have of putting words in my mouth. For instance, I slated here recently why I should not be willing to receive Pasteur treatment in any conceivable circumstance because I fear ill effects of the virus more than I fear possible development of rabies following a bite or wound by an animal presumed to be rabid. A woman hailed this with some satisfaction. She wrote: "I see by yesterday's pa per that you haven't much use for virus, vaccine, serum and the like. Also I see that the health department Is conducting a campaign to Immunize all school children against diph theria ... It Is a crime to sub mit Innocent children to such treatment ..." If anybody asks me I say the immunization of every child against diphtheria Is a great boon to the present welfare and happiness and the future secur ity of America. Every good par ent should see to It that his or her children are Schick tested, for susceptibility and, if found susceptible, Immunized against diphtheria before the children enter nursery school. Another reader writes: "I was amazed and saddened when I read your advice that people over 90 should drink a glass or beer or wine dally amazed be cause I thought you were oppos ed to liquor as a matter of con viction and saddened because the son of a W. C. T. U. mother had departed from her prin ciples and teachings ..." If the reader will show me where I said people over 50 should take beer or wine that Is, send me a clipping of the item I'll send her a complete set of Little Lessons In the Ways of Health. Frances Ann Fraedrlck who was flown by airplane from Berlin to London, last month, ar rived in New York on the liner Queen Mary, two weeks ago, and is now at Camp Beale, Calif., Belting her discharge. Cpl Fraedrlck has been overseas for over a year, working as a tele type operator with the first Airborne Army, and has Deen stationed at London, Paris, and Berlin. Everett E. (Bud) Fraedrlck, Jr.. of the U. S. Marine Corps, Is now at Camp Pendleton, near San Diego, arriving there the first of this month, after nearly two years In the South Pacific, Pfc. Fraedrlck has been In sev eral major battles, and spent four weeks In a hospital with leg wounds, a year ago. Mrs. Paul D. Turner of Med- ford spent a few days of last week as a guest of Mrs. Everett Shafcr. Ralph Goode returned to his work at Coulee Dam, Wash., aft er spending a week here w'th his mother, Mrs. Nellie Goode, and attending his father's fu neral.
