Daughter Here Mrs. Karl Wymore of Portland arrived in Medford by plane Sunday to apend two weeks here with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. C. M. Hon, 213 Crater Lake avenue. To Portland Miss Marian t Farrell, county home demnn ' stration agent, will leave tomor row morning for Portland to spend the Thanksgiving holidays with relatives. She will return Sunday. License Issued A marriage license was issued by the Jose phine county clerk Nov. 17 to Frank Stanley Anderson. Med ford, and Rose Ann Pinaire, Grants Pass, according to a Grants Pass news release. Veteran Returns Norris K. Porter, CMlc, who has been overseas two years with the 109th Battalion, is visiting with his wife at the home of her par ents, Mr. and Mrs. Allen B. Drury, 1009 South Oakdale. The veteran, son of Dr. and Mrs. E. H. Porter, route one, saw service In the Hawaiian Islands, Mar shall Islands and Guam. Relatives Arriving Mrs. C. M. Grigsby of Albany, Ore., and Mr. and Mrs. Hackleman of Bremerton, with their d; i ghter. Miss Helen Hackleman, student from the University of Oregon, are expected in Jacksonville this evening to spend the Thanks giving holidays with Mr. and Mrs. James Grigsby. Mrs. Grigs by and Mrs. Hackleman are Mr. Grigsby's mother and sister. Frederick Returns : Follow ing an honorable discharge from the army air force at Portland army air base, former Flight Officer William H. Frederick returned to Medford last Fri day. Stationed in the United States during all 27 months of his army career, Frederick served as a pilot and assistant transportation officer. He is the son of Mrs. Madge E. Fred erick, 809 South Peach street. Captain Here Capt. Thomas A. Culbertson left Medford this noon for Oakland, Calif., after spending a brief time with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. T. A. Cul bertson, Sr., Route 3. Capt. Cul bertson is stationed in Oakland with headquarters of the army continental air force command. Before entering the service about four years ago the captain was superintendent of the Medford airport. He expects to be re leased from service after the first of January. Jess Rodgers, Jr., USMCR, son of Mr. and Mrs. Jess G. Rodgers of Butte Falls, has left Pearl Har bor aboard the USS Maryland for the United States according to a news release from Hawaii. To Hold Service First Church of Christ, Scientist, 212 North Ookdale avenue, will hold the regular Thanksgiving ser vices Thursday morning at 11 o'clock it was announced today. All are cordially invited to attend. Helman Horn e Lt. Thomas A.Helman, who recently has been discharged from the air transport command at Great Falls, Mont., is visiting with his wife and baby at the home of his mother, Mrs. J. H. Helman, 420 Pearl street. Announce Service Special Thanksgiving Day services will be held at St. Mark's Episcopal church at 10 o'clock Thursday evening. The Rev. George R. Turney, rector, announces that there will be a special Litany of Thanksgiving with procession and the choral Eucharist. Examiner Coming A travel ing examiner of operators and chauffeurs will be in Medford Friday and Saturday, Nov. 23 and 24, and will be on duty at the Knights of Pythias hall from 9 a. m. until 5 p. m., according to an announcement from the of fice of the secretary of state. Dance Tonight Crater Lake Aerie and auxiliary, F.O.E., will hold a "hard times" dance at the lodge hall, 219 West Main street, tonight beginning at 9 p. m. The affair is for Eagles and auxiliary members only. No meeting of either Aerie or aux iliary will be held Thursday eve ning, since it is a holiday, Brown Home George Brown, former boatswain's mate, 1c, returned to the home of his wife and daughters, 1018 West Fourth street, Monday from Camp Shoemaker, Calif., where he received an honorable discharge from the navy sea bees. With the navy two years, Brown spent 15 months with the 90th construction battalion in the Pacific theater. He is the son of the late Syd I. Brown and and Mrs. Brown, 504 South Hol ly street. Flue Fire City firemen ex- tinguished a flue fire last night at the home of E. E. Canter, 23 North Orange street. Amount of damage was not reported. Cars, Collide Considerable damage was caused cars oper ated by Wayne O. Rose, 329 Chestnut street, and Norris Leh man, route 4, yesterday when they collided at the intersection of Sixth and Holly streets, city police reported today. Brownlee, Taft off Narragen street, applied for a building permit yesterday at the office of the city superintendent to erect two garages at a cost of $400. Also applying for a per mit were Wallace and Kwock C. Wong, to remodel a restau rant at 28 North Front street at a cost of $2,000. Veterans Here Reporting to county selective service board No. 1 yesterday following hon orable discharges from the arm ed forces were Lt. Edwin A. Andren, William C. Blackston, Frederick R. Copsey, Steven J. Dodge, Delmar E. Green, Roby L. Isaacs, Jr., Joseph J. Jones, James R. Roper, William C. Sanderson, George C. Smith. Richard A. Wray, and Jack E. Young. Visitors Leave Lt and Mrs. Rodney Fety, who were in Med ford recently to visit Mrs. Fety's father, H. F. Piatt. 815 East Jackson street, have gone to Portland where they are spend ing several days. Lt. Fety is on terminal leave from the navv and will be discharged Jan. 1. Before entering the service the officer was with the Oregon- California Revested Lands ad ministration. Phoenix Man Opens Grants Pass Store Grants Pass, Nov. 21 Floyd Barrett, for two years employed by the Medford Stationery store, has opened a business here to be known as Barrett's stationery and office supply store. He will carry a complete line of office machinery and also do repair work on equipment. Photo graphic and children's toy de partments also will be Included. Mr. and Mrs. Barrett and two sons, Pat and Mike, have pur chased a home at Clark and A streets here where they will make their home.
