Olive Barber's $wU$ Letter tifl Putting up the men's lunches this morning, I felt pretty smug over the dainties I had prepar ed, not the least of which was half a fried chicken in each bucket. Unconsciously, I always give my husband the best of the deal. So this morning he got the end of the cake where frost ing lay the thickest. I told the men about the fried chicken and then realized this was a mistake. For men never grow up in many ways; least of all do they out grow their lit tle boy greediness. And my mind went back to the school lunches of my girlhood. Any fried chicken my mother put in our school lunches never lasted until the noon hour. All through the early morning period devot ed to the times tables my greedy little mind was leaping ahead to morning recess. The minds of my classmates must have work ed the same way for at recess we dashed to the lunch bucket shelf. By that time, cake, pie and chicken were already being made into more boy and girl as fast as digestion could accomplish it in the hour and a half which had elapsed since recess. Caution as well as greed urg ed this mid morning dining. With the Jones children never bringing anything but plain sandwiches, they wete not above browsing among our pails if the opportunity preesnted it self to do so. So we removed temptation from the little pil ferers by "beating them to the draw" as It were. It Is noon as I write this but I have a feeling my men folk are lunching on plain bread and butter; this because about mid morning they had a snack of fried chicken followed by a chaser of chocolate cake. For logging camps as well as schools, have their "Jones chil dren" and though ethical in most matters, well, fried chick en and chocolate cake are out of bounds to the man as they were to the boy. TWO-WAY BOWLING Erie, Pa. (U.PJ Two-way miniature bowling is catching on fast at the boys' club here. Instead of the bowlers rolling from one end of the alley, one player rolls from each end, re placing each other's downed pins. It's a duck-pin affair. The boys can't run before releasing the ball, but premier results showed scores are just as effective. Assembly of God Evangelist Draws Increasing Crowds All departments of the As sembly of God church, 11 New town street, are enjoying growth and stimulation as a result of the indoor camp meeting now in progress under the ministry of Evangelist Martin Luther Davidson of Houston, Tex., ac cording to the pastor, the Rev. G. O. Baker. Despite inclement weather, large crowds have as sembled from night to night to hear the Rev. Davidson speak, and the Sunday School atten dance has broken all previous records, the minister declares. Yesterday began the third week of the campaign and last evening the Rev. Davidson spoke on "Must We Some Day Fight Russia," basing his re marks on the 38th and 39th chapters of the Book of Ezekiel. The evangelist declared that "Communism cannot tolerate Christianity" and added that "War has not changed the moral character of the Russians. She has not repented for slaughter ing Christians," referring to the revolution in 1917. Services will continue throughout the week, at 7:30 p. m. each day.
